The Oracle Read Write Department delivers hardware, and robust electronic and electronic designs for tape drive commercialization. The primary emphasis is on new product development. Additional sustaining engineering activities support products in the field.

The successful candidate will have between 2-5 years of practical experience with analog and digital design knowledge, along with analysis using MatLab, Spice, or other appropriate tools, to provide robust design support for tape drive magnetic recording systems. In addition, the candidate will develop software using C, Visual Basic, or other languages.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic circuits, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems to achieve high capacity magnetic recording.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
This position supports new and existing products in analog and digital electronics, with some software development. Responsible for supporting, designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement.

Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design. Evaluates implementation and techniques used in production.

The primary deliverable is designs and systems used to support the development of the Magnetic Recording operation of the product. Collaboration with other groups may be necessary throughout the development process.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, with no less than 2 years of practical (not including internship) required.
• 2+ years of planning, designing and developing electronic circuits, integrated circuitry and/or DSP systems to achieve high capacity magnetic recording.
• 2+ years of software development using C, Visual Basic, or other languages
• Prior experience with performing moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes.
