The Senior Systems Administrator is a non-exempt position that
manages local and wide-area networks consisting of UNIX, Linux and
Windows servers and workstations and performs a variety of
maintenance, evaluation, installation and training tasks to enable
users to maximize productivity and also:

• Administers local and wide-area networks and servers in
excess of 150 workstations and 80 servers utilizing TCP/IP and non-
TCP/IP networking protocols, and UNIX, Linux and Windows based
operating systems.
• Installs, configures and maintains networks, servers,
Ethernet networks, network cabling and other related equipment,
devices and systems.
• Plans and implements network security, including building
firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing
host security, file permissions and file system integrity.
• Troubleshoots networks, systems and applications problems to
identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
• Prepares and responds to internal and external audit requests.
• Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network
hardware, peripheral equipment and software.
• Develops and conducts training for systems users on specific
operating systems, applications and programming languages.
• Provides technical direction and support for other work group
personnel.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in CIS or certification in
System Administrator and/or Network Administrator is required
including 4-6 years' experience in system administration. Must have
an advanced knowledge of a range of computer networking systems and
languages. Must possess a solid understanding of an operating system
with UNIX, Linux and Windows including paging, swapping, inter-
process communications, devices, file system concepts. Must possess
an intermediate knowledge of computing and/or network hardware and
peripheral equipment, security systems and applications as well as
current technological developments and trends. Must have solid
knowledge of backup and restore processes.

Must be able to communicate technical information to non-technical
personnel.

Must be able to administer large and complex computer networks. Must
be able to identify and resolve systems problems. Must be able to
juggle tasks and priorities to meet rapidly changing deadlines.
