This position will primarily be responsible for the assessment and
development of current and future network design for Corporate
Express' enterprise WAN, MAN, and LAN environments. Additional
duties include operational support for critical e-commerce network
and network security environments, tier-3 support of operational
issues for the converged voice/data environment and
architecture/engineering support for related network implementations
projects associated with a large enterprise network.

Ideal candidate must possess extensive working knowledge of all data-
related areas in an enterprise, converged voice and data network.
Including but not limited to, the operational functions, benefits,
and advantages/disadvantages of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN and other
network security components, network redundancy and business
continuity design, related industry and open standards voice, data,
and network security related protocols, routing, L2/L3/L4 switches,
cabling standards, etc. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal
communication skills are essential to the success of this candidate.
Other critical success factors include a passion for service
excellence and the innate desire to help build and continually
refine a world-class support organization within the Network
Services department with a focused emphasis on delivering a high
quality, highly reliable, resilient, prioritized, network
infrastructure that supports multiple critical business and service
applications. This position will require close working relationships
with other voice/data operations and implementations team members,
as well as, numerous other IT personnel and business owners within
the Company and 3rd party partners, vendors, and service providers.

Position Characteristics & Responsibilities:
• Diagnosing complex network problems using available tools and
techniques (i.e. protocol decode and analysis, snmp/rmon, netflow
statistics, etc…), to include application level trouble shooting
where required, assisting the application owners with diagnosing
issues anywhere in the given protocol stack.
• Strong troubleshooting and contingency planning abilities; must
have creative problem-solving skills, especially during times
when "no" is not an acceptable answer, ability to evaluate what's
working and what's not in a timely manner.
• Installation, configuration and support of core network
infrastructure, to include performance monitoring/alarming
capabilities, and security specific network configurations (i.e.
snmp security, username/password policy, routing protocol security,
auditing, assessment, etc…)
• Designing network solutions to fit business requirements while
optimizing use of existing infrastructure
• Maintain technical knowledge of network industry trends and
recommend direction to upper management and other departments.
• Set and maintain corporate standards for data communications.
• Installation and configuration of third party network
infrastructure.
• Experience with large enterprise networks (1000+ remote nodes)
highly desirable.
• Traditional voice networks knowledge and experience, as well as,
Cisco enterprise IP Telephony implementations (CM, IPCC, CVP, IP
IVR, ICT, Voice-Gateways, etc…)
• Maintain existing support offerings and SLAs with the Field; add
to the service offerings as applicable
• Coordinate with vendors/suppliers as needed to ensure optimal
configurations and functional systems, Ensures that implemented
solutions adhere to corporate standards through diligent lab testing
and formal reviews.

Background Requirements:
• Bachelor's/Masters Degree in CS, CIS, or other Engineering
discipline. Or equivalent education and experience in IT
Network/Security discipline.
• Industry Certification, such as CCIE, CCNP/CCDP, (R & S CCIE
Strongly Preferred).
• 10+ years Network Engineering, Architecture/design, and
Implementation experience of TCP/IP based LAN/WAN/MAN networks; 7
years experience in-depth protocol decode and analysis.
• In-depth system level understanding of QOS and custom queuing
techniques(DCSP, TOS, CBWFQ, WRED, etc.) routers, layer 2-4
switches, MPLS, Frame-Relay (FRF-11/12), SONET, DWDM, FCIP, etc. in
an HA mission critical environment. Specific in-depth experience
with content switching (Cisco CSS/CSM), and various voice-gateway
specification/implementations, as well.
• Experienced with interior/exterior routing protocols (BGP-4, OSPF,
RIP), fault tolerance protocols (VRRP, HSRP), VTP, MLS, 802.1q,
IPSec suite, voice protocols suite (H.248/.323, MGCP, RTP, skinny,
SIP, etc.), Codec's (G.711/729), and other layer 3/4/5 protocols as
defined by the needs of the business.
• Experience with Linux 2.2 or better kernel, Solaris 2.6 or better,
AIX 5.x or better, etc… a plus.
• Additional specific experience with Cisco IP Telephony
architecture, CRM integration, CTI, IPCC, SRST, etc. is highly
desirable.
• Proven track record of success in areas of initiative, customer
service, and seeing tasks to completion.
