ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will be skilled in the areas of data modeling, physical
database design, troubleshooting, performance tuning, monitoring, maintenance,
migrations, recovery methodologies and contingency options. The job will also
involve the challenge of auditing the current environments, capacity planning,
and providing best practices for the future production/development/test
environments, which may include establishing new standards and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
o Minimum 2+ years experience supporting Production/Development Oracle databases
in a UNIX/Linux environment
o Hands-on experience with Oracle 9i and 10g

DATA WAREHOUSE ETL DEVELOPER

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o The individual will be a member of the Data Warehouse team. This team is
responsible for all development work, maintenance and 3rd tier support performed
on the Data Warehouse.
o Design, develop and maintain several different load programs in various
program languages (Ab Initio, SQR, PL/SQL). Ab Initio and PL/SQL is a must and
SQR background is a plus.
o Works with business requirements analyst to identify and understand source
data systems.
o Responsible for creating and maintaining standard development life cycle
documentation as part of all development project tasks.
o Adapts ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business
user requirements.
o Performance tune new/existing programs that load data into the data warehouse.
o Technical resource for the data warehouse and Business Analyst team.
o Work closely with other data warehouse team members and the internal
architecture group to work through scalability issues, new sourcing
architectures, and processing standards.
o Maps source system data to data warehouse models.
o Meets with DSS Data Modeler and DBA to review design strategies for new ETL
processes.
o 1st Tier nightly support on-call rotation required of all DW ETL developers
(~2 weeks daily once every other month).

REQUIREMENTS
o Minimum 2+ years proficient development background in one or more of the
following ETL tools: Informatica, Ab Initio or Data Stage. Candidates with Ab
Initio experience are preferred.
o Extensive Oracle 9i or 10g experience, specifically in the areas of
Partitioning, Index types, SQL*Loader and other Oracle storage parameters that
are useful for loading and utilizing large databases.
o 3+ years experience working with relational databases.
o 3+ years of advanced SQL use (Correlated sub-queries, Unions, Minus,
Outer/Inner Joins, Aggregate Functions, group by and having syntax). Must be
able to read Oracle Explain plans and react to adverse performance plans
accordingly.
o 1+ years experience with PL/SQL, Stored Procedures & Packages and DB
triggers.
o 2+ years experience with an ETL development tool.
o 2+ years working on various types of Unix operating systems.
o Solid background in 3GL/4GL programming languages.
o Unit test skills along with good knowledge of unit testing techniques.
o Strong troubleshooting skills.
o Working knowledge of several partitioning concepts (Hash, Round-Robin, Range,
etc.) and parallel processing depths.
o Experience working with data warehouses; understands data warehouse theory.
o Must be proficient in the Unix VI editor.
o Understands Unix File Systems, Mount Points, Directory Permissions, Soft &
Hard file links
o Must have strong Unix shell scripting skills in (KSH, Bourne or CSH).
o Industry knowledge in marketing concepts such as closed loop sourcing, data
augmentation from external sources, and campaign management processes is a big
plus.

PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing and developing enterprise Data Center
Services for Corporate Express US. Responsible for physical
security, environment efficiencies, Tier 1 UNIX System Engineering
support, and plays a strong coordinating role with computing
architectures and platforms. Helps ensure major corporate and
enterprise systems operate smoothly and optimize productivity for
user community. Keeps abreast of new technologies in the computing
environments and identifies and implements technologies and
processes that improve the reliability, efficiency, and availability
of the environment within the Corporate Express data centers. Key
player in IT contingency planning operations and managing
continuance/disaster recovery operational staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Build, develop, and manage the Data Center Services operations,
providing a high-quality cost-effective processing environment that
contributes to achieving corporate and divisional business goals,
including:
a. Coordinating enterprise system architecture and physical
infrastructure within the data centers
b. Tier 1 open systems engineering, production support, and
operations
c. Acquisition and installation services
d. Vendor management and negotiations
e. Maintenance support for hardware and software
f. Indirect support of network operations
2. Manages environmental systems (HVAC, power, diesel generators,
UPS systems, and fire protection systems) as well as information
technology systems within the Corporate Express Headquarters Data
Center the Omaha Disaster Recovery Data Center.
3. Consults on environmental systems (HVAC, power, diesel
generators, UPS systems, and fire protection systems) as well as
information technology systems within the Distribution Center Data
Centers and Call Center Data Center.
4. Maintains an ongoing communication with cross-departmental peers
to insure desired services being provided are reliable and of high
quality.
5. Assists in the development and execution of Disaster Recovery
plans and procedures.
6. Manages use of off-site data storage facilities to insure proper
audit trails and backups are in place to meet legal, financial and
operational needs of the company.
7. Prepares annual budgets for Computer Operations Group based on
future and historical information and guidance from IT Operations
Director, Systems Operations and Services.
8. Manage appropriate staffing levels based on internal and external
requirements for 24x7 Data Center Operations.
9. Manage and develop employees within Data Center Services
organization.
10. Manage weekly/regular communications with Data Center Services
organization to ensure current activity visibility, issue
escalation/resolution, and upcoming activity visibility
11. Enforce Change Management policy for all production systems
within the Data Center
