Sports Authority - Sr Programmer/Analyst

MANAGEMENT & REPORTING STRUCTURE


This position reports to the Manager, Application Development - Information Services.





POSITION DESCRIPTION


Create, implement and maintain software applications. Document processes and procedures for new and existing systems. Train users in the use of new or existing systems. Troubleshoot problems and resolve them to the satisfaction of users.





PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES





§ Design, develop, implement and maintain software applications.


§ Document processes and procedures for new and existing systems.


§ Develop code in RPG, SQL, CL and other language based on the technical specifications in alignment with IS standards.


§ Assists in the design and development of the system architecture in alignment with the overall IS systems plan.


§ Develop functional and technical specifications based on defined customer business requirements.


§ Participate on assigned projects and ensure compliance with Project Management methodologies.


§ Participate in the development of training materials to support IS team members and customers.


§ Conduct on-going system performance analysis and identify opportunities for improvement.


§ Prepare plans and estimates for tasks assigned.


§ Prepare and executes test plans for all levels of testing.


§ Train customers in the use of new or existing systems.


§ Troubleshoot problems and resolve them to the satisfaction of customers.


§ Follow existing change management process.


§ Responds to outages and queues and resolves any system issues.


§ Responsible for other task as assigned.






PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS





§ Associate’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent relevant experience.


§ 5-7 years experience in programming on AS/400 using RPG, CL, ILE and SQL.


§ Knowledge of JDA MMS with a strong retail background.


§ Knowledge of Warehouse management system highly desired.


§ Knowledge of Accounts Payable and EDI a plus.


§ Working knowledge of MS Office, Visio, Outlook etc.


§ Complete understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).


§ Ability to solve problems in situations where only limited documentation exists.


§ Ability to compose moderately complex documentation.


§ Ability to discuss detailed information with both internal and external customers.


§ Ability to improve existing systems or procedures which periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance.
