This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.

The Project Manager position is a senior technical position that is responsible for managing large and complex projects which transcend departmental lines and require a high degree of technical knowledge. The Project Manager is responsible for defining the projects, assembling and matrix-managing cross functional project teams, creating schedules for project implementation, and driving the projects to completion, while continually adjusting as priorities shift and unexpected challenges arise. This position requires an individual with a strong technical and project management background and excellent facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

Organizes and manages complex projects through design, development, and execution.Facilitates dialog with project stakeholders to define objectives, goals, deliverables, and expected outcomes; devises methods for measuring results.Assembles and coordinates project team members and assigns individual responsibilities; effectively facilitates conflicts to satisfactory resolutions.Identifies needed resources, including staff time and budgets.Creates implementation schedules with clearly defined milestones and associated tasks; revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.Prepares requests for proposals and conducts all necessary meetings to facilitate selection of project services and products.Serves as key resource for project information; regularly interfaces with staff, project team members, and service providers to provide continuous visibility into project status including any deviations from plan and associated mitigations.Creates and maintains complete and current project documentation.
Required experience

Minimum 5 years experience applying project management methodologies to successfully manage concurrent complex cross-functional projects with heavy technical emphasis.Extensive knowledge of contemporary technology applications & processes and demonstrated ability to effectively apply technology solutions to business challenges.Expertise in multi-tasking and keeping priorities aligned to project objectives, while managing scope creep and unanticipated obstacles.Expertise in monitoring project progress and keeping projects on track while working with a distributed matrixed project team.Demonstrated ability to facilitate project team discussions to quick and effective decisions.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, to interact effectively with staff at all levels of an organization.Ability to synthesize complex project information and communicate it in a clear, concise, and understandable fashion.A comprehensive understanding of complex organizational relationships and an ability to demonstrate influence within such an environment.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred experience

Experience leading one or more information technology departments.Experience creating technology plans that align to strategic directions.Experience implementing and managing enterprise technology systems.Experience working with a formal SDLC process.Experience in higher education and/or the not-for-profit/association environment.PMP or other similar credential.
