SUMMARY
This position will be responsible and accountable for all aspects and areas of Database Administration. It will also be responsible for maintaining the Oracle database and applications and will require senior level technical expertise and the ability to interface and support all levels of users. Also, this position requires leadership and to act as the team lead. This DBA must be able to backfill for the DBA Manager in their absence.
JOB DUTIES
* RMAN backups, Database design, communicating with all levels of clients and management.
* Support and maintain Oracle database applications.
* System tuning, performance monitoring, and database maintenance.
* Assist with application and user support when needed.
* Support and tuning specific to Data warehouse and Reporting databases.
* Analysis of existing Reporting databases, including the design and implementation of a Data Warehouse/DataMart.
* Will attend design reviews, review explain plans, SQL code reviews and other general database administrations tasks as required.
* Knowledge and experience with SQLnet and other database communications.
* Database security policy implementation of backup and recovery policies.
* Optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures
* Will work as a member of the centralized team to provide business departments with both production and design support.
* Work with departmental team(s) during their design and testing cycles to insure a proper understanding and stable implementation are achieved.
* Administer databases across multiple platforms.
* Production database support, Problem identification, and resolution during off hour / weekend coverage.
§ Backfill for DBA Manager in their absence.
§ Mentor team members.
§ Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
§ Bachelors of Science Degree in: Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Five years experience as a Sr. DBA.
Must have the following experience and skills:
Large Oracle databases running in an AIX environment.
Oracle tool set for database maintenance and development. Knowledge of business application a plus.
Supporting Oracle applications in a high tech environment.
Oracle workflow design and implementation.
Oracle 9i features, SQL and UNIX shell scripting.
C, JAVA, ERWIN, Oracle OEM, and Oracle 11g is a plus.
MSSQL Server a plus.
Sybase IQ a plus
Self-motivated, confident, detail oriented, excellent organizational skills, and the desire to learn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work without supervision
Knowledge of troubleshooting using vendors.
Leadership and supervision skills.
