Pellucid Analytics is hiring a Systems Administrator. We want someone who knows the ins and outs of each of the different cloud providers, and has squarely landed on AWS as their favorite option, but can also manage a co-located rack. This person should have dabbled in many different linux distros, and become opinionated about them. And this person should be absolutely obsessed with automation, configuration management, monitoring, and explored the inner depths of all the tools.
Our environment is full of interesting and intelligent people, and we’re looking for similarly high caliber people to join us. We've got a PhD from Oxford with deep roots in category theory, as well as contributors to the Play Framework and an iteratee-based MongoDB driver for Scala. We strongly emphasize open source development and have already released a Scala library for Datomic. We have several other open source projects in the works, including a promise-based JavaScript library for high performance UI in native iOS applications. Our software stack is meant to be 100% non-blocking and our libraries are focused on making that a reality.
You would be working on a product that will have a major impact on investment banking workflows, especially with respect to financial visualization and analytics, through automation as well as fluid and intuitive UX. Even though we're focused on the finance sector and many on our team come from banking, we maintain a startup feel, but are well funded so neither pay nor job security is an issue. We offer four weeks of vacation, brand new Macbook Pros, and 30 inch monitors. We also do hack days and make strong efforts to include interesting technologies into our daily work.
Desired Experience:
Five or more years of experience with systems administration
Experience with configuration management tools like Chef, Puppet, and/or CloudFormation
Experience with git
Experience with a scripting language like python, ruby, perl, etc.
Experience with nginx or HAProxy
Experience with monitoring tools, like Munin, Nagios, or Ganglia
Experience with logging tools like logstash
Experience working in the financial sector
Desired Skills:
Expert unix skills
Strong working knowledge of AWS
