Database Administrator (Oracle)

The Oracle DBA will be responsible for providing 24x7 on-call support in a very dynamic environment with mission critical applications.  This individual will interface with support, application, development, network, and storage teams and will be responsible for resolving application issues, troubleshooting, debugging, root cause analysis, and resolving infrastructure issues.  The DBA will consult with application teams as needed on architecture, code deployment, tuning, and best practices.  The DBA will provide input and will assist with the architecture, implementation, and failover support of high availability and disaster recovery plans.  This person will plan, coordinate, test, and install product upgrades and patches and will assist with deployments, database monitoring, and improving the availability and performance of databases         

Required Qualifications:

•BS or MS degree in a related engineering or IT field and at least 5 years’ experience managing large Oracle production databases and at least 2 years in a lead role.•Oracle 9i-11g database administration experience•Experience with both data architecture design and operation of 24x7, high availability services with high transaction rate OLTP and large data warehouse systems•Good understanding of Oracle technologies such as RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and Streams
•Strong experience in backup restore/recovery processes and procedures.  Practical experience with RMAN backup and recovery is a must
•Strong experience with Grid control
•Hands on experience with performance tuning concepts and methodologies
•Good knowledge of Operating Systems – preferably Linux and Solaris with respect to Oracle Databases; good knowledge of UNIX shell scripting.
•Flexibility to work off-hours to manage incidents and major change events and to support a rotating 24*7 call schedule.
•Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 1 week every 3 months
•Self-managed, self-starter able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
•Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude•Ability to analyze information, problem solve, and  make decisions quickly
•Adaptive to leadership styles that promote collaboration, teamwork, and innovation

Preferred Skills:

•Experience with SQL Server 2008
•Experience with data warehouse and reporting products like Informatica and Microstrategy
