The team is responsible for designing, deploying and supporting the systems which deliver live broadcast video across the Level 3 IP core network. Customers supported are major broadcasters delivering all major events around the globe including the Superbowl, World Cup, NFL, NBA, MLB, live breaking news for Fox, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, etc. Our role is to development self-service portals, network control automation, reporting and automation. We also support publishing of video to internet publishing points for live web streaming.
Level 3 has the largest backbone in the world, giving us an unparalleled reach and visibility into a large swath of the global internet traffic. The team is also developing Level 3's 'big data' platform to analyze our network traffic to gain insights into how internet traffic is evolving and changing day over day, month over month, and year over year. When people want to know about internet search, they go to Google. When they want to know about internet traffic and DNS, they will come to Level 3.
Required Skills
Our development team works primarily in C#.NET, Java and C++ and this job require solid proficiency in some or all of these languages. We follow a DevOps model and have full lifecycle management responsibilities of our code (design, engineering, build, deployment, and support). Our developers have to be suited to this environment, supporting the architectural design, system administration, engineering and often production support for the code we build.
The principal requirement for a successful candidate is solid development skills and willingness to learn. Our team is distributed, so we need personalities that can connect and effectively collaborate with remote colleagues.

Summary
Part of the Reporting and Metrics team, responsible for the performance monitoring and measurement of the Level 3 operations organization.
Essential Duties
*Individual will liaise with multiple organizations to identify reporting and metric needs and requirements.
*Overall job responsibility is to create repeatable and intuitive SQL server reports against organizational, group, and individual contributor performance measures to facilitate process and team improvement.
*Create performance reports on install, change and disconnect orders as well as perform tasks, actions and revenue reporting. Reporting and metrics will be sourced from multiple order entry, workflow and inventory systems as well as supporting data marts / databases.
*Support ad hoc requests and projects as requested by the supported organizations and teams.
Education and Experience
*Microsoft SQL Server (which uses the T-SQL ANSI/SQL development standards)
*SSRS (SQL Server Report Services)
*SSIS/DTS package development
*Visual Studio
*Oracle 9i or better
*2 - 3 years' experience with SSAS and cube development
*2 - 3 years' experience VB.NET, C# and/or application development
*Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)
*4+ years' experience in data mining, querying / accessing large data sets and developing key business reports and metrics
*Experienced in analyzing complex issues, distilling and communicating their relevant aspects
*Efficient time management skills
*Able to draw conclusions from research and analysis and determine next steps and course of action
