PURPOSE:
Responsible for directing the management and support of UNIX and Enterprise
Storage Systems Computing Organization and for providing a high-quality,
cost-effective processing environment that contributes to achieving corporate
and divisional business goals. This individual has strong business management
skills, and provides vision and proactive/problem-solving skills relating to
current and future systems needs. This individual is a creative innovator and a
hands-on manager capable of managing a diverse technical staff and resources in
multiple projects through all life-cycle phases in accordance with established
direction and standards. Articulates a technical vision that coincides with and
fully supports the overall business planning process.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: in order of importance. Other duties may
be assigned.
o Build, develop, and manage systems engineering organization, including
organizing the development of operating system technical support, operational
software/systems programming, and server and storage hardware platform
capabilities
o Support, maintain, and collaborate with Technical Architecture teams to
articulate a technical vision that coincides with and fully supports overall
business planning process
o Establish concise and measurable organizational goals that are consistent in
supporting corporate objectives
o Participate in departmental, division, and corporate strategic and tactical
planning processes
o Define and monitor multiple project priorities and provide technical and
administrative supervision; ensure appropriate management is apprised of
operational status of projects
o Develop and monitor operating budget
o Ensure a stable systems performance environment; undertake performance
monitoring/analysis, identify and resolve bottle-necks, resolve problems, and
produce performance reports for management and process owners; provide business
application users and management with a well-tuned environment
o Provide appropriate hardware/software resources for business applications;
perform capacity planning, workload modeling/prediction, and purchasing
recommendations for new hardware/software upgrades; provide business
applications enough resources for their short-term and long-term growth
o Ensure data pertaining to the status of problems and service requests is
entered into problem tracking systems accurately and promptly on a daily basis;
provide an up-to-date picture of service delivery status and backlog
o Ensure environment is updated with current, stable versions of software
products; maintain currency with operating system and support software; plan and
implement major software upgrades; ensure change management procedures and
methodologies are implemented and followed; provide a current, well-managed
operating environment for production processing and application development


PRIMARY INTERACTIONS:
o Reports to Director - Systems Operations Services
o Directs the activities of subordinates managing related individual functional
areas
o Works directly with all areas in IS; has a close working relationship with IS
peer groups
o Communicates with departmental and business managers, as well as project
managers and leaders, to define and support initiatives and solutions; user
interaction at all levels of management is key to establishing present and
future information needs, service requirements, and managing expectations
o Closely coordinates with those managing other computing architecture groups
o Participates in presentations to senior management
o Frequent contact with major hardware/software vendors to discuss products,
pricing, support, troubleshooting, etc.
o Has regular communication with other companies, consultants, and industry
trade groups on technology issues
o Attends conferences and user groups; belongs to professional organizations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline; equivalent
experience acceptable
o Minimum of seven years of systems operations experience, including extensive
knowledge of hardware and software
o Experience in managing an organization of 10+ employees with an annual budget
exceeding $6 million.
o Demonstrates experience in determining business processing directions and
developing responsive technical environments to support the business directives
o Experience in effectively communicating with users, employees, and senior
management

WEBLOGIC SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

LOCATION: US Headquarters - Broomfield, Colorado

OVERVIEW:
The role of WebLogic Systems Administrator will be responsible for advanced
support of the WebLogic architecture components at Corporate Express. The person
in this role will work collaboratively with other members of the Integration
Application Support team to support and maintain the infrastructure used to
integrate Corporate Express’ strategic systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Manage configurations, implementation and maintenance of WebLogic systems
o Debug and correct internal and external infrastructure problems
o Provide system performance tuning and root cause determination
o Perform programming, scripting and packaging functions
o Ensure that tools and industry best practices are in place and adhered to for
web and middleware technologies
o Interact with Service Desk, other Application Support teams, as well as
Operations and Development groups
o Implement periodic code releases and emergency code promotions

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Required
o 7+ years of IT enterprise architectural experience
o 3+ years with WebLogic Server including clustering and security
o Experience with developing and deploying standards-based Web services
solutions
o Strong knowledge and comprehension of standards, specifications and standards
bodies (e.g., XML, SOA, Web services, etc.)
o Working knowledge of J2EE technology including recent versions of BEA products
(WebLogic Application Server, Portal, Integration, etc.)
o Extensive experience with performance tuning
o Hands-on experience with Solaris, Linux and Windows OS
o Solid knowledge/experience with SOA and following architectures:
1. Enterprise Architecture
2. Technical (Infrastructure) Architecture
3. Information Architecture
4. Business Process Architecture
5. Data Architecture
o Exposure to BEA AquaLogic considered a plus.

UNIX OPERATIONS SPECIALIST (Data Center Operator)

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Data Center

LOCATION: US Headquarters- Broomfield, CO

SHIFT HOURS: 1:00 am – 7:00 am on Wednesdays, then 7:00 pm – 7:00 am Thursday -
Saturday.

PURPOSE:
Assists in systems software support for a simple to moderately complex computing
environment. May design, install, test, maintain, modify, and document systems
software processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
o Ensures the security of the Data Center, all Corporate Express assets
contained within, as well as all associated data and equipment, by the
performance of hourly inspections.
o 24x7 Tier one support of Unix Production environment including OS support of
AIX, Linux and Solaris servers both remote and local to Data Center.
o Interprets console messages from system software or application programs, and
initiates required action.
o Maintains data backups for multiple operating systems.
o Maintains the physical hardware inventory of all equipment.
o Maintains integrity of tape library, and the cycling of critical tapes for
offsite storage.
o Configures resources such as terminals, printers, and tape devices.
o Responsible for documenting all changes to the system environment and
processes.
o Follow the MAC and Service Desk ticket process when managing problem tickets
and change requests (printers, new/change accounts, Maestro schedules, etc.).
o Performs troubleshooting of operating system and application problems.
Monitors and diagnoses operating system problems, and follows established
procedures to resolve those issues.
o Develops operating instructions and techniques to cover problem situations.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of operating and emergency procedures and
standards.
o Identifies system malfunctions and initiates corrective action to maintain
schedules and protect the integrity of the production systems, including files
and reports.

PRIMARY INTERACTIONS:
Daily interaction with all system users on a demand basis and other Information
Services staff on a daily basis.
