Kaiser Permanente - Senior Database Administrator

We're looking for big ideas - ideas that can embrace multiple petabytes of vital information. That's how much data we manage and store at Kaiser Permanente. We're home to some other big ideas, like creating KP HealthConnect, the nation's largest electronic medical record system, using social media and text messaging to help members engage in their own care, and developing predictive modeling tools that anticipate health issues before they're an issue.

Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or a minimum of4 years of equivalent work experience.

•A minimum of 5 years of Database Administration (DBA) experience.

•A minimum of 10 years of job related experience in Information Technology or equivalency.

•Thorough knowledge of business functions / business related policies.

•Complete understanding and application of business related principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.

•Broad application of business function / business related principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields.

•Experience with Oracle 11g, 10g.

•Experience with UNIX - AIX, Solaris, Linux

•Experience using Grid Control monitoring tools.

•Experience with SAN storage systems

•Experience with RMAN backups, UNIX shells - Korn shell, bash, perl.

•Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Oracle Clusterware

•Strong SQL skills. Ability to code packages and procedures.

•Clear understanding of RDBMS fundamentals.

•Expertise in backup and recovery and fail-over methods and best practices.

•Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and ability to write specifications for applications to be developed in relation to security components. Exceptional communication, problem solving, performance tuning, and teamwork skills.

•Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for troubleshooting and development.

•Ability to support and work within standard software development life cycle practices.


Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience with UNIX - AIX, Solaris, Linux, Windows
  • Experience with WINDOWS command scripts
  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Golden Gate
  • Experience using Oracle Exadata, Database Vault, Audit Vault and ASO.
  • Experience with SQL Server security framework and Active Directory
  • Experience with SQL SERVER is a plus
