Information Technology Infrastructure Lead
Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an experienced technical professional to lead our Unix/Intel Server Administration and Database Management team. In this position, you will provide technical leadership, oversight and direction for infrastructure teams across multiple server operating systems (UNIX and Windows) and database management systems (Oracle and SQL Server), monitoring and alerting solutions, backup management, SSL certificate management, and storage networks. This includes leading technical planning and implementation of strategic initiatives such as server and storage capacity and availability, enterprise systems performance management, and infrastructure as a service/cloud services.

Duties and responsibilities include:
* Implementation, availability, continuity, and maintenance of server class and enterprise database systems and associated infrastructure
* Identify, implement, and document monitoring and alerting standards, procedures, and policies
* Design and implement high-availability/fault tolerant infrastructure architecture
* Work closely with all stakeholders to identify technology solutions within the organization’s standards and constraints to support and improve performance, availability, security, and continuity of systems
* Plan future growth of the enterprise server and database infrastructure through monitoring and managing current capacity, analyzing demand, projecting and forecasting capacity growth requirements, and identifying and implementing the appropriate on-premise and/or external infrastructure solutions.
* Optimize infrastructure design and usage for best return on investment
* Establish, monitor, and measure team-based goals and objectives for key improvement initiatives
* Design and develop automated solutions for management of server and storage environments
* Extend and integrate monitoring and alerting solutions
* Lead cross-functional technical teams through problem root cause analysis and remediation
* Establish business recovery standard practices for regular recovery exercises, leading application and infrastructure teams through the process
* Develop and lead virtualization strategies
* Implement and monitor an SSL certification management process
* Participate in and coordinate the 24x7 Standby rotation

What will it take to be successful in this position?Most people will offer a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technology degree and demonstrate technical expertise in server/network administration, virtualization, storage network management, and/or systems monitoring. Due to the nature of the work, experience with architecture design across multiple OS platforms, including UNIX, Linux, and Windows and multiple database management systems, including SQL Server and Oracle will be needed. Professional certification in at least one of the following: Microsoft Server/System Center, Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), VMWare, or other relevant tracts is expected. Master's degree in a relevant technical computer or management program is highly desired.

* Designing, developing, and supporting monitoring solutions for SharePoint, SQL Server, Biztalk, IIS, and .NET applications, preferably using SCOM.
* Agile and traditional waterfall project management methodologies
* Leading teams and coaching/mentoring individuals
