Jones - SQL Developer

Job Description

This position is part of a team that provides solutions to business opportunities in the form of data integrations, custom database solutions and reporting. This is a fast paced environment and best suited for an individual with the ability to switch easily between different projects and flexibility to handle a rapidly changing environment.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a well-rounded SQL developer with 3 to 5 years of SQL development experience and 1 to 2 years assisting in the support of production SQL servers. The position will require the individual to spend approximately 50% of their time developing data integrations (SSIS), 35% developing reporting solutions (TSQL and SSRS) and 15% assisting in the support of production environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

·        Develop data integrations with SSIS including consuming and generating data files

·        Develop solutions to reporting and adhoc data requests

·        Develop SQL objects to meet business requirements

·        Assist in supporting production environments (maintenance plans, optimization, replication, etc)

Required Skills

·        3+ years experience with SQL 2005/2008R2/2012

·        Strong experience developing SQL objects including tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, functions and triggers

·        Strong experience with SSIS including consuming and generating data files and some experience loading data warehouses

·        Experience fulfilling data requests with SSRS and/or SQL objects

·        The ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff

·        Strong analytical skills – expert skills in validating data results

·        Support project managers and business analysts in developing level of effort estimates and accurate timelines

Desired Skills

·        Experience with a student information system, preferably CampusVue

·        Experience working with the Microsoft BI stack including SSAS

·        Experience with additional Microsoft development languages such as C# or VB.Net

·        Some experience with Crystal reports

·        Experience supporting production MS SQL environments

·        Experience with Microsoft PowerPivot

·        Experience utilizing SharePoint as a reporting delivery medium

·        Experience with TFS
