Great-West - Information Security Analyst

Great-West is recruiting for a Full-Time Lead Information Security Analyst
to join our team of professionals.

The individual we seek will possess a minimum of 5 years solid experience in data security administration and have a solid understanding of risk management principles and foundation. Strong analytical problem solving skills, knowledge of network security audits, project planning, security metrics reporting and mitigation control implementation experience are also essential. The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in developing an ongoing information security strategy, perform risk assessments, database security design and monitoring, security design assistance in IT infrastructure projects.

This position requires:
Technical background and understanding of information system, database, application and network terminologies
Providing oversight to promote consistency and quality in compliance controls across the organization
BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Management or related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience and responsibilities regarding information security
Comfortable in a rigorous, analytical, complex, and changing environment
Strong desire to learn new skills and security concepts
Strong desire to understand the business needs and align data confidentiality, integrity, and availability with those needs
Experience as a privacy/security analyst, with applicable knowledge of regulatory compliance procedures related to SOX, HIPAA and GLB
Strong understanding of database environments, security requirements, and ability to identify unusual behavior associated with database management activities.
Researching, developing and updating information security standards
Strong working knowledge of security principles (such as authentication, auditing, and risk management) and security elements (such as locking systems, interior and perimeter controls and firewalls)
Assisting with analyzing the functionality and operations of systems to determine adequate security, controls and data integrity
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple levels of management and peers
Being a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong cross-functional project management leadership skills
Strong facilitation and presentation skills (Must be proficient with MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Power Point)
A firm grasp of information security principles and issues
Understanding of secure coding principles and practices

Preferred Skills:
Experience with IBM's InfoSphere Guardium Database Security software. Experience working in the financial industry. Experience building or managing an application security program. Information security certification (CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or CEH) and/or CISA (audit) certification.
Familiarity with ISO 27001

Preferred Technical Knowledge:
Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, IBM InfoSphere Guardium, UNIX, AIX, Linux, Active Directory, and IDS. Encryption algorithms, Digital Certificates, SSL, VPN, IPSec, TCP/IP, DNS and web security architecture.


Responsibilities:
Database security monitoring and management; security incident response management; risk assessments; assist with penetration testing efforts; understand networking; design firewall rules for implementation; assist in managing escalated IDS alerts; leadership in an application security program; assess and recommend approach for management of access to questionable Internet sites; conduct due diligence for potential vendors and business partners
