Computer Operator - iSeries/AS/400



Basic Job Purpose: Under direct supervision, assists in performing
routine tasks associated with operating a computer in accordance with
detailed instructions.

Essential Functions: 1)Operate and control computer console and related
peripheral equipment. 2)Log machine failures and program errors and
corrects routine problems. 3)Breaks, sorts and distributes reports in a
timely manner. 4)Maintains problem log and turnover log. 5)Assists in
performing routine tasks associated with operating a computer, such as
mounting and demounting files with I/o devices, staging supplies,
operating printer, etc. 6)Implements proper schedules according to
procedures.

Education: High school diploma.

Experience: 1 + years operations experience on the AS/400; 1 + years
experience with peripheral hardware iincluding tape drives, modems, and
printers. Solid PC experience. Experience on Xerox 4635 printer helpful.


Skills: -Attention to detail and follow direction. -Excellent customer
service skills. -Sound judgment and organizational skills.

Physical Activities/Working Conditions: Travel required as needed.

Basic Functions: Provides guidance, assistance, coordination and
follow-up on requests, questions, problems and malfunctions of systems
applications, hardware or software supporting internal and external
customers.

Responsibilities: Interprets, evaluates, resolves and tests client
inquiries or issues pertaining to the functional operation of
application hardware and software. Analyze simple to complex requests,
inquiries and issues to determine the appropriate technical area or
vendor to resolve problem. Alerts clients and team members in a timely
manner when a major problem is suspected. Documents and tracks status of
client inquiries/incidents and coordinates appropriate response and
follows up to ensure client satisfaction. Translate technical details
into business relevant language.

Qualifications: Applicant must be familiar with CM methodologies and
best practices (ITIL). An understanding of change management or build
engineer experience. Knowledge of Help/Systems iSeries ROBOT products,
Softmenu, or similar change management tools and an understanding of job
scheduling. Candidates must be detail oriented, have strong time
management and organizational skills, excellent oral and written
communication and exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
