The Technical Consultant is primarily responsible for providing technical consulting services to Mincom clients on the Mincom Ellipse system including installing, troubleshooting, tuning and administering Ellipse in the customer technical environment. This position reports to the Domain Principal Consultant with direct line reporting on assigned projects to the Project Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Installs Mincom Ellipse at customer sites.
Installs additional Mincom & third party products at customers sites.
Administers, tune and troubleshoots the customer environment.
Assists customers in determining hardware platform specifications.
Plans, produces and delivers project components (deliverables) in accordance with the project plan and as coordinated with the Project Manager.
Identifies and discusses potential problems with clients and recommend solutions in a timely fashion.
Liaises with customers and project team members to calibrate expectations and delivery of services.
Trains customers and colleagues on system components.
Guides customers through full implementation to ensure maximum benefit from the system within the scope of the purchased services.
Submits a weekly time and expense claim and project update reports as required by management.
Maintains a standard of deliverables in accordance with the quality requirements of the company’s Quality Assurance Certificate ISO9000 and is able to audit this system.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Requirements
Education:
Requires a BA or BS in computer science, software engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Required skills – 2-5 years experience with one or more of the following:
Unix/Linux Administrator
Oracle DBA
JBOSS, APACHE administration
Virtualization
Desirable experience:
SQL Server administration
Windows Administration
VMWare
Java Programming
Cerificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Requires possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Requires knowledge of one or more of the technical areas represented by the Ellipse product.
Requires a working knowledge of Systems Administration experience on various platforms.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within both customer organizations and Mincom.
Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Requires the ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 80% of work time.
