SUMMARY



The candidate will provide senior level system administrative support for hardware, OS and 3rd party utilities for multiple UNIX and Linux environments. This position is responsible for achieving overall technical integrity of the UNIX and SAN-based storage environments. He/she will provide technical advice, counsel and assistance to programmers and analysts for the diagnosis of major programming problems, determination of system failures and related complex issues; identify, analyze and resolve system deficiencies; assist technical staff in the system generation planning and programming systems planning as required; recommend inclusion of existing options in the programming system which would increase serviceability and reliability; act as an internal consultant and mentor other staff in such areas as diagnostic techniques; problem identification and determination, programming systems generation, corrective procedures, use of tools/aids and the use/preparation of documentation and reports.

” Plan and execute storage, upgrades, and patches

” User account, security management

” File systems and storage management

” Capacity planning and performance tuning

” Troubleshooting servers and OS related problems

” Work with H/W and OS vendors, when needed

” Establish and maintain technical standards and data center security policies

” Plan and implement high availability solutions

” Backup and Recovery management

” Support 24x7 data center operation environment

” Build System Architecture and Capacity Plans

” 24x7 On-Call Support

” Other duties as assigned.



EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS



Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar discipline

Certifications in IBM Hardware, Software, and other UNIX Platforms beneficial



EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS



” A minimum of 5-7 years proven experience as an UNIX Systems and SAN Administrator and have experience with some or most of the environments listed below:



” IBM Power Systems Virtualization technology (LPAR/micropartitioning) AIX 5.3/6.x

” Virtual I/O Server including redundant virtual SCSI and Network (SEA)

” IBM Power5 510, 520, and Power6 570 servers

” IBM Bladecenters

” IBM System X servers

” IBM DS4000/DS5000/DS6000/DS8000 installation, configuration, and tuning

” IBM System Director

” Oracle/AIX Tuning methodology and testing

” Unix shell scripting and network configuration related to servers

” Flashcopy replication services

” OS specific Logical Volume Manager

” Tivoli Storage Manager 5.x/6.x backup system with Windows/AIX/Linux/OSX Clients

” Tivoli Storage Manager for Database backups handling Oracle 9/10/11, DB2 v8/9

” Tivoli Directory Server for LDAP authentication

” Tivoli Workload Scheduler

” Tivoli Productivity Center report generation and performance analysis



Additional skills and requirements

” Must understand and implement OS security best practices

” Must be familiar with Multiple Unix and Linux environments. Experience in an OLTP environment is a significant benefit.

” Ability to work independently and manage one's time (Required)

” Excellent troubleshooting skills

” Knowledge of HIPAA requirements

” Experience in business critical production data center environment

” Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
