Operations Center Systems Administrator

Summary

As an Operations Center Systems Administrator, you will be key to
monitoring and troubleshooting the entire IT stack (data center,
network, storage, servers, and applications/services) and communicating
issues / status to all relevant personnel. This challenging position
offers traditional Operations Center monitoring and response
responsibilities as well as system administration duties for performing
initial troubleshooting of all issues. You will work closely with
internal DigitalGlobe departments such as Customer Service, the Mission
Control Center, Production and Software Development.



This is a rotating shift-based position.



Key responsibilities

* Monitor performance of the network, storage, servers and
applications, from the perspective of the horizontal views of the
infrastructure (e.g., all network, all servers) to the vertical views of
the business groups (e.g., all infrastructure components delivering
service to the Mission Control Center). Report on any issues within the
IT infrastructure, including Ground System applications
* Troubleshoot issues that arise with the infrastructure
components and resolve using pre-defined procedures and/or escalate to
3rd level support personnel.
* Propose changes / improvements to the processes and procedures
that will improve operational efficiency, provide better service, etc.
* Develop and maintain custom Enterprise Operations dashboards and
monitoring systems



Requirements

At least 2 years experience administering UNIX and optionally network
equipment in a complex operational environment with the need for 4 nines
uptime.



Technical Skills:

Required:

* Mid Level UNIX/Linux system administration experience with
Solaris and RedHat knowledge, including the use of Solaris Global and
Local Zones.
* Scripting experience (e.g., perl, shell, python)



Highly Desirable:

* Windows System Administration:

* Solid knowledge of Exchange, DNS, SharePoint, Active
Directory, SMS and Anti-Virus software.
* Experience with Exchange, SMS, DNS and Active Directory.

* Mid Level network administration experience.
* Solid knowledge of data / IP networking and protocols (e.g.,
OSPF, BGP, GRE, TCP, FTP, FCIP, NFS).
* Experience with Cisco (6500, 7200, 7300, PIX) and Juniper (M and
J Series) routers, switches, firewalls
* Storage:

* Experience using/monitoring Netapp filers or Hitachi
Frames.
* Ability to troubleshoot common NAS & SAN issues.

Applications Experience with:

* Databases.
* Application servers.
* Large-scale Web infrastructures.
* Enterprise applications such as SAP.



Desirable

Previous SA or OC Experience working in a complex environment with
multiple operating systems and platforms.

Knowledge / experience with satellite operations and imagery processing
applications / techniques.



Education

UNIX, Linux and/or network certifications.



Additional qualifications

US Citizen, ability to obtain US Security Clearance.

Must be flexible to a rotating shift arrangement
