Summary
Be part of the team that is creating the next generation of cable
networking technology. The Technical Project Manager will work with the
team lead to define and manage multiple development initiatives for one
of CableLabs' most innovative and challenging programs. Able to
succeed in a fast-paced, highly technical environment, this individual
is responsible for detailed planning, coordination, tracking, and
completion of multiple software development and specification efforts
that cut across traditional video, data, and voice system boundaries.
Functions
§ Plan, track, and manage multiple projects.
§ Ensure project scope is clearly defined, approved, and
implemented.
§ Balance requirements with technical, resource, and other
constraints to ensure project objectives are realized.
§ Characterize tasks, establish deadlines, assign
responsibilities, monitor progress, and identify issues.
§ Work with teams to develop and maintain project schedules.
§ Ensure any impact to project scope, schedule, or budget is
communicated early and standard change control process is followed.
§ Report project progress to team members and stakeholders, in
a clear and timely manner.
§ Contribute to continuous improvements in PMO processes and
procedures.
§ Identify, manage, and communicate project risks and issues.
§ Proactively identify and solve project obstacles.
Qualifications
§ Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other
relevant field and/or the equivalent, with 6-8 years software
project management experience.
§ Specific training and experience in project management
tools and methodologies.
§ Experience with Agile development is a definite plus.
§ Solid skills in implementation planning, delivery, and risk
management.
§ Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
§ Ability to work in a highly cross-functional environment
and manage the work of cross-functional teams.
§ Strong communication, meeting facilitation, and
presentation skills.
§ Ability to influence and manage expectations.
§ Ability to multi-task on projects.
§ Technical familiarity with the cable and/or
telecommunications industries.
§ Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.

Senior Engineer, Software Development - Louisville

We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team at our Louisville, Colorado facility.
SUMMARY
The Sr. Engineer, Software Development serves as a software engineer and
technical lead for the CableLabs ETV User Agent and ETV Test Suite
development. This individual is the software architect of the ETV User
Agent, and the technical lead of a team of developers working on the ETV
User Agent. The role also involves supporting the ETV specification
efforts as a technical consultant, and working with the ETV Test Suite
development team. In addition, this individual is required to interface
with MSOs and other companies who are working with the CableLabs ETV
User Agent source code.
FUNCTIONS
· Provide technical expertise and leadership for the ETV User
Agent software development team to evolve the ETV User Agent to comply
with the evolving ETV specifications.
· Design, develop, and unit test new features in the ETV User
Agent as they are defined in the ETV specifications.
· Lead the development and maintenance of supporting design
and user documentation for the ETV User Agent.
· Consult with the ETV specification team to provide feedback
on ECRs, including analysis of technical feasibility, backward
compatibility, and other input as required.
· Lead the technical project planning and task estimation
efforts of the ETV UA development team.
· Work closely with the ETV Test Suite development efforts to
support the evolution of the test suite.
· Support MSO engineers and developers from other companies
who are working with the CableLabs ETV User Agent Source code.
· Provide ETV consulting and support to other CableLabs
organizations as necessary.
· Support CableLabs interoperability events, conferences, and
other outreach activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
· BS or MS degree in electrical engineering or computer
science and 7 or more years of technical experience.
· Excellent software development skills including demonstrated
proficiency in Java and embedded java (J2SE and J2ME) development for
real-time systems under Linux or similar OS.
· Excellent software system design and architecture skills.
· In-depth knowledge of the EBIF specification, the ETV AM
specification, and OCAP.
· Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex technical
specifications.
· Proven ability to debug embedded systems.
· Knowledge of OpenCable system architectures including Object
Carousels, Legacy Out-of-Band communication, Advanced DSG, XAIT
structure and function, and OCAP applications desirable.
· Experience with data networks, networking protocols, video
systems, and RF networks desirable.
· Significant initiative that requires minimal direction and
supervision.
· Excellent interpersonal, communications and planning skills.
· Strong technical writing skills. Must demonstrate ability
to document software in a compact and lucid manner.
