HomeAdvisor - Web Content Coordinator, SEO Specialist

You:
-    love creating website content directed at a wide audience (and maybe you know a little about blogging platforms like WordPress).
-    have a strong eye for design, tone, and brand consistency.
-    have a red pen ready for copyediting, and are an eagle-eye proofreader.
-    understand search engine optimization (SEO) strategies, have done keyword research, know something about web analytics, and how that all ties into web content creation.
-    have a strong grasp of Microsoft Office, and you know a little bit of HTML and CSS (if you know the Adobe products, and/or JavaScript, SQL, PHP, Python, or other programming languages, you're ahead of the curve).

Sounds like you should apply for our brand new Content Coordinator role here at HomeAdvisor.

What we do:
HomeAdvisor, recently named one of Denver's top workplaces by the Denver Post, is an online marketplace connecting homeowners to pre-screened and rated home improvement specialists in their areas. We're an IAC company, joining Match.com, Ask.com, and others in a wide portfolio of highly successful internet brands. We're one of Denver's largest internet companies, with our headquarters nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills near Golden.

We're looking for a strong writer and editor with a passion for creating and maintaining search-optimized content for HomeAdvisor.com and our affiliated sites to augment our growing Search Experience Optimization team. Working closely with a team of freelance writers, our SEO Specialists, and our Product Development teams, our Content Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining and improving our existing content assets, as well as creating new content in support of our on-going company goals and SEO efforts. You'll write and edit articles for our site, coordinate project timelines and deliverables with freelancers, research keywords for better optimization, and ultimately, provide useful, insightful home improvement and maintenance-related information to our growing community of homeowners.

Sound like your kind of job? Here are some other reasons people love working at HomeAdvisor:
-    At HomeAdvisor, your career path is what you make it – when you ask for more responsibility, you'll get it. When you have ideas, we'll listen.
-    Your teammates are passionate about their work, and strive to be experts in their field. They love to learn from you, teach you, support you, and challenge you.
-    What you're contributing every day far outweighs everything else. We know not everyone is productive in exactly the same way.
-    Ping Pong. Foosball. Pinball. Shuffleboard. All just steps from your desk.
-    At HomeAdvisor, we have a progressive "take what you need" paid time-off policy. Instead of accruing vacation and/or sick time, you literally take the time you need to recharge (within reason, of course).

If you think you've got what it takes, we want to chat. Send us a resume to start the conversation. All candidates MUST apply online at http://www.homeadvisor.com/careers.

For most businesses, a website is not only a communication tool, but it's a key piece of marketing. For us, HomeAdvisor.com is not only part of our brand, it IS our business. We are currently growing our Search Experience Optimization team, and are seeking talented, smart SEO Specialists to put their stamp on our SEO strategy, ultimately helping us grow our organic traffic.

How an SEO Specialist spends the day at HomeAdvisor:
-    Translates business goals into various SEO strategies
-    Oversees and owns maintenance, enhancements, and creation of new organic assets
-    De-mystifies SEO for other staff through on-going training/education efforts around SEO best practices
-    Monitors performance, and makes improvements to existing assets or creates new assets to boost future performance
-    Keeps the software development team's ego about their ping pong and foosball skills in check

Characteristics of our team members that make them successful:
-    A demonstrated passion for their area of expertise – we'll hire people with the desire to grow their SEO careers, and who have strong experience working with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), can code HTML and CSS (JavaScript, SQL, PHP, Python, or other languages are a plus), are analytical and creative, and detail-oriented. For folks with past SEO experience, we'll also dig into your advanced searching techniques, your web analytics knowledge (Google, Adobe SiteCatalyst, etc.), and your overall knowledge of all facets of SEO.
-    Ability to learn on the fly – we move fast, and our business can change with the blink of an eye – we hire people who love to learn, are eager to grow, and have no problem shifting gears on a dime.
