Responsible for the development and maintenance of systems as they related to data warehousing and reporting. Primary job activities include the analysis and extraction of source system data into a data warehouse. Report development will then be required to provide metrics and analytics to the internal business community.
* Business Analysis
* Work with end user groups to understand business solutions and processes
* Perform high level data validation against newly acquired and existing data repositories
* Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) development
* Use Microsoft SSIS to populate data marts and warehouse.
* Follow Kimball Methodology in designing warehouse tables and data structures
* Methodically move solutions from development to production environments
* Server Architecture Support
* Provide server support for DEV, TEST and PROD environments and mitigate downtime
* Perform performance tuning and optimization of database systems
* Manage disk space and resource requirements as data demands continue to increase
* Report Development
* Use Microsoft Reporting Services to design and present requested report metrics
* Use Microsoft Visual Studio or BIDS for SSAS cube design and development
* Use Cognos 8.4 Transformer for data cube development and report delivery in a Cognos Reporting environment
* Resource Management
* Juggle requests from multiple lines of business and help prioritize development workload
* Provide basic levels of effort associated with work requests.
Desired Skills & Experience
* 3-5 years of experience with database technologies
* Experience implementing technology solutions
* Experience working with a diverse set of business units
* Microsoft Database Certification a plus
* Microsoft SQL Server 2005,2008, 2008 R2, Windows Operation Systems, Microsoft Visual Studio
* Strong business-oriented focus
* Strong relationship building skills
* Experience with application development
* Ability to translate business requirements into data based solutions
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Integration Services (SSIS)
* Fully understand server architecture and database technologies. Specifically, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
* Basic understanding of data structures and Kimball Warehouse design
* Preferred skills: Database development, data warehousing and business intelligence experience using Cognos technologies
