EchoStar - Software Test Engineer, Staff Engineer

Work in a team environment to create tests for satellite receivers,
video on demand software, placeshifting technology and other new
products. Perform software test planning and ensure complete test
coverage.



Duties and Responsibilities





Gather test requirements and determine appropriate test cases for
complex, inter-related software functions

Responsible for technical knowledge of most mission-critical test
procedures and test approaches

Lead interactions with cross-functional groups to develop testing and
provide test support

Create and maintain highly technical documentation for test effort

Work with software development to ensure complete understanding of
software and drive quality and testability

Propose new ways of testing and innovative techniques to meet constantly
changing test priorities

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of software lifecycle principles
and software testing processes

Can communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences; can
effectively communicate and document project level test plans and
designs for groups of test procedures

Collaborate with team members for highest quality solutions

Engage with customer to gather suggestions and identify gaps

Complete multiple high-priority tasks and provides effective status;
completes all tasks with a high degree of quality within a reasonable,
agreed-upon time frame

Work independently and demonstrate good decision making under light
supervision

Conform to test standards and guidelines; initiates improvements to
standards and processes



Skills and Qualifications



Education: Associate Engineer: Associates Degree in Computer
Engineering, Computer Science, or other engineering discipline

Engineer I/II: Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer
Science, or other engineering discipline; or at least 4 years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.



Experience

Associate Engineer: Two to four years experience in software testing

Engineer I: Four years experience in a software test engineer role

Engineer II: Four to six years experience in a software test engineer
role; experience as a lead preferred





White box, black box, functional and regression testing

Test planning and ensuring complete test coverage

Testing video content delivery systems

Experience with Microsoft Office tools

Experience with Atlassian tools desirable

Can work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative
environment

Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through
analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

Strong English written and oral communication skills; strong
interpersonal skills

Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure
environment.

We are seeking a Chief Designer of hardware and software Test Automation
systems with the ability to define and evangelize a strategic vision for
the Test Automation discipline. Proven history of defining and
implementing new processes for automation required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Looking for an engineering architect whose primary responsibilities will
be to design and build tools used for automated testing of end-to-end
digital video ecosystems, including set-top box receivers, hand-held
media devices, and web portals.

Priority is placed on customer-facing applications but when available,
effort will be shared with testing internally-developed tools used by
Test, Integration, and Support groups.

Must continually and effectively communicate strategy, opportunities,
and progress to company management and project teams.

Ability to document design concepts, task specifications, and
implementation/test details required.

Will need to routinely study application and process behaviors to
supersede requirements by proactivelyevaluating alternative test
possibilities, scenarios, and potential issues.

Must remain current on new test automation tools and methodologies and
communicate trends and opportunities to management as appropriate.

Ability to examine challenges from both a developer and tester
viewpoints required.



Additional duties include creation and maintenance of functional and
technical design documents. Must be able to coordinate and communicate
with project coordinators and leadership team. Must possessthe ability
to work well in a highly collaborative environment and theprovenability
tocombine skills in architecture and leadership.

Education

BS in Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer
Science, Electrical Engineering, and/or equivalent practical experience
(examples of previous work required). A Masters Degree in the same
disciplines is preferred.

Experience

10 to 15 years experience in design, development, testing, and
architecture.

Skills

Skill sets and knowledge of technologies such C/C++, LabVIEW, Database,
.NET, Continuous Integration, McCabe.

Experience with software development lifecycle workflow and business
intelligence is required.

Must be very analytical and thorough in task completion.

Must be a self-starter and quick learner with exceptional communication
and documentation skills.
