Trillion market. Ombud has one humble goal: to manage 1% of Global IT
purchasing decisions in the next 60 months.
Ombud is a privately funded company headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
The company was founded in the spring of 2011 by a team of friends and
executors who have built some great software institutions, i.e., one of
our founders is the CEO of Cloudera. The name, Ombud, is derived from
Ombudsman, "a person who acts as a trusted intermediary between an
organization and some internal or external constituency while
representing not only but mostly the broad scope of constituent
interests." We are building a platform to do just that at Ombud.
You have
A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical discipline or equivalent experience (You must know the difference between graph theory and graph paper)
Coding proficiency in at least one language (we use Java and Groovy)
Several years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
Experience with cloud infrastructure (like Amazon EC2)
Sharp and tenacious troubleshooting skills
Personal motivation and the drive to execute with minimal guidance
Good hygiene and you enjoy late nights perusing through GitHub for a project to fork
Your skills
MySQL, Hibernate, and HBase
One or more web app frameworks (like Ruby on Rails, Groovy/Grails, or Python/Django)
Configuration and maintenance of common server applications (like Tomcat and Apache)
Linux and TCP/IP network fundamentals
Version control with git
Your Responsibilities:
Build robust and impactful tools and systems
Design and implement new and exciting features
Build integration points with other systems and tools utilizing web services and APIs
Develop and review system architectures, capacity plans, tooling needs, automation plan and product launch plans
Manage our back-end services (Hadoop, HBase, Solr, MySQL, Tomcat, Apache, EC2)
Identify and address capacity-related issues proactively
