Description
In this role as the Technical Director for the Security Master domain, you will be responsible for defining the future direction and technical strategy for this reference data domain. As Schwab continues to grow its business and product suite, the ability for the Security Master to flexibly and quickly support these changes is a key competitive driver. You will carry out strategic and tactical assignments that leverage your strong architectural skills and your solid understanding of relevant business issues in this space.You will partner with business, operations, and technical leaders and staff to understand future goals and current architectural challenges as you define the future design. You will be responsible for:
•Defining and communicating a future architecture strategy for this reference domain that may support the integration of a third-party solution, along with a rewrite and consolidation of existing systems.
•Developing strong relationships with leaders across Charles Schwab and help align the objectives and approaches of the Enterprise Architecture team with the evolving needs of those partners.
•Coordinating development on the future solution with changes to the existing system needed to support real-time business needs.
•Partner closely with data architects to support and implement data governance processes.
•Work with other architects across the technology organization to develop, promote, and apply the Security Master target architecture and data governance processes, enabling the successful execution of business strategies.
•Coaching and mentoring junior staff to support the goals of the future state design.
To be successful in this role, you should have very strong technical skills and be adept with the architecture and design patterns relevant to enterprise class development. You need the ability to see the big picture but also navigate the details. You must have the ability to work collaboratively as a team player to develop a solution that integrates well with other functions. The ability to work seamlessly with both large and small teams is critical for success as is the ability to solve problems and support strong teaming. You should have a strong background in Distributed systems with a working familiarity of Mainframe systems. Knowledge of data integration patterns needed to design and develop data solutions is a plus. Flexibility, adaptability and personal initiative are critical traits for success in this role. And, if you've done a Security Master redesign effort before, we definitely want to connect with you!Technical/Functional QualificationsBachelors degree in Computer Science or related field plus 8 or more years related experience (Financial Services industry preferred, Security Reference Data experience a plus)- 3+ years as an Integration/Solutions Architect in a large company- 5+ years project management experience/experience leading large teams- Broad technical skills across multiple domains (technology, data, applications, etc.) and platforms (mainframe, client-server, web-based, etc.)- Deep technical skills in Application architecture- Experience with application and integration technology design, including SOA, web services, and data management- Hands-on experience with Websphere, Oracle, Unix, Java- Hands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, DB2 preferred- Strong understanding of Security Reference data systems a plusExtensive experience in:- 5+ years Java/JEE- 5+ years Web Services- 5+ years RDBMS- 5+ years experience with multi-tiered architecturesFamiliarity with some of the following preferred:- Reference data management concepts- Experience with RUP and Agile- Messaging Techniques (MQ, JMS, MSMQ)
