Description:

VMware, one of the fastest growing software companies in the work as the recognized market leader in computing virtualization technology, seeks a dynamic Senior IT Client Services Manager capable of thriving in a face paced and team oriented environment. This will be a hands-on role, based in Broomfield Colorado, which will provide end user support for all desktop productivity tools including the virtualized desktop platform View, desktop hardware, software, peripherals, phones, data center operations, network connectivity to the desk and remote support. The position will work closely with the IT teams, other internal operating units, vendors, remote IT teams, and the business to ensure the IT support requirements are exceeded and supported in a timely fashion. This position should be considered as a day to day tactical team management role, but also as a very forward thinking, strategic role capable of forging the departments future with regards to organizational structure, tool recommendation, staffing, trending, and analysis to ensure SLA's are maintained on a daily basis as well as position the team for the future.

Principal Responsibilities

.Assume ownership and full accountability for various IT desktop operations support model, team, standards, end user policies and procedures for all sites in the Americas .Provide team leadership, mentorship, and management expertise on all IT daily operations related matters including but not limited to supporting desktop hardware, virtualized products, connectivity issues, phones, PDA's, data center operations, productivity tools and software .Assist the IT Infrastructure teams in International with technical recommendations for software, hardware, standards and solutions appropriate for a highly technical end user environment. If adopted, provide project coordination with implementation, deployment, documentation and training where appropriate to ensure successful deployment to the end users .Manage and direct all vendors and contractor activity with regards to any desktop related outsourced services .Data gathering and ability to drill down into specific IT operations root cause analysis, ability to proactively recommend effective courses of action, communicate resolution, policy and procedures to the various IT stakeholders, management and end user population .Strong technical ability and problem solving skills across all the IT disciplines including hardware, software, telephony and connectivity .Effectively managing and mentor the team's response to call resolution, prioritization, escalation and SLA management .Analyze and report on performance metrics to ensure customer service standards are being met, and are within the relevant security, operational and best practice guidelines .Represent the department and the IT operations environment as an active participate in various strategic initiatives, projects and business related activities that directly impact IT


Requirements

.Minimum 10 years IT experience
.Minimum 3 years experience in a Supervisory / Lead role over teams of IT Operations personnel .Strong leadership capability with effective delegation skills.
.Excellent knowledge in virtualization techniques .Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft OS applications including server and desktop environments .Advanced knowledge of all networking concepts and operating in a Cisco environment .Support exposure to Active Directory, Exchange 2007, virtual machines, networking technologies, antivirus and spam blocking technologies. Must have working knowledge of basic telephony .Strong customer service orientation .Proven project management skills .Must be highly organized, detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking .Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a highly professional appearance .Ability to establish strong relationships with Corporate management .Must be dynamic, innovative and capable of garnering the respect and high level trust required by the help desk and IT teams for this position to be successful.
.Regular travel required between Broomfield , Palo Alto and remote US sites

Education

.Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience required.
.VCP, MCSE, MCSA, CNE or other applicable industry certifications desired.
.VMware product experience desired.

Staff Systems Administrator (Tools)

As a Systems Administrator with the IT Operations Tools group you will assist in design, maintenance and documentation of our global monitoring infrastructure using various commercial and open source tools, work closely with production systems and application owners to provide best practice end-to-end monitoring and systems-management solutions and work with our monitoring software vendors to develop custom modules for systems / applications monitoring, dash boarding and reporting.
This position will assist with various other projects such as architecting and implementing a configuration management solution for production / staging systems environment in IT Operations.

Requirements:

-5+ years' experience Linux system administration, preferably in a
-5+ production operations environment
-Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes, and standards (ie SNMP) -Production monitoring experience and strong understanding of network protocols (SNMP, HTTP, TCP/IP, SMTP, etc) -Experience with administering, configuring, and troubleshooting multi-tiered production environments -Strong scripting / programming skills in Python (preferred) or Perl Strong understanding of current Web technologies (LAMP, AJAX, CSS, etc) -Strong sense of operations -Strong focus on the customer

Desired:

-Experience with virtualized infrastructures
-(vSphere/vCenter) and vCenter SDK Experience with open source monitoring solutions (Nagios, Zenoss, Cacti,
etc)
