SUMMARY

This position will be responsible and accountable for all aspects and areas of Development Database Administration. It will also be responsible for maintaining the Oracle, MS SQL Server, & IQ databases and applications in a development environment. This person will require strong technical expertise and the ability to interface and support all levels of users. Also, this position requires leadership, to act as a mentor and innovator. This DBA must be able to backfill for any production DBA in their absence. This position requires in depth knowledge of Enterprise Application Development and database needs through database design and implementation. Responsible for architecting database solutions to maximize system availability and “up time� during application and system upgrades. This position requires strong data modeling skills with the flexibility to meet the company goals. This position will work closely with development to create sound application solutions that are maximized for performance. This person will be responsible for keeping the Development, Test, & QA environments in sync with Production.

JOB DUTIES

* Support and maintain Oracle & MS SQL Server databases & applications, includes the analysis and architecture for the new versions of Oracle & MS SQL Server. (Sybase IQ is a nice to have)
* Design and maintain data model for reporting database in legacy and new systems. This person will collaborate with the reporting development team (Strong modeling skills needed).
* Define and develop physical and logical data models to support departmental and functional reporting needs
* Design and maintain data model for OLTP environments in collaboration with the development team (Strong modeling skills needed).

* System tuning, performance monitoring, and database maintenance for Oracle & MS SQL Server databases. (Sybase IQ is a nice to have)
* Work closely with development to assist with application design and development as they interface with the databases.
* Responsible for architecting seamless database upgrades and migrations.
* Support and tuning specific to reporting databases.
* Will attend design reviews, review explain plans, SQL, PL/SQL, & TSQL code reviews and other general database administrations tasks as required.
* Knowledge and experience with SQLNET and other database communications.
* Database security policy implementation of backup and recovery policies.
* Optimization of SQL, PL/SQL, TSQL.
* Develop guidelines and best practices to ensure data standardization and consistency
* Will work as a member of the centralized DBA team to provide business departments with development support.
* Work with departmental team(s) during their design and testing cycles to insure a proper understanding and stable implementation are achieved.
* RMAN backups
* Administer databases across multiple platforms.
* Production database support (required as backup), Problem identification, and resolution during off hour / weekend coverage.
* Backfill for any DBA in their absence.
* Mentor team members.
* This position has a on call requirement only as backup when another DBA is not available.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors of Science Degree in: Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent years of experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

5+ years’ experience as a DBA.
3+ of those years’ experience as a senior DBA.
We are looking for the following experience and skills:
Large Oracle databases running in an AIX environment.
Oracle tool set for database maintenance and development.
Experience in high volume OLTP databases
Data modeling experience is required
Experience in physical and logical data modeling, establishing data architecture frameworks, and meta-data management
Knowledge of business application a plus.
Supporting Oracle applications in a high tech environment.
Oracle workflow design and implementation.
Strong Oracle PL/SQL
MS SQL Server/ Sybase Transact SQL
Oracle 9i, 10g, & 11g features, SQL and UNIX shell scripting.
MS SQL Server databases.
Sybase IQ is a plus.
C, JAVA, ERWIN, Sybase Power Designer, and Oracle OEM are a plus.
Self-motivated, confident, detail oriented, excellent organizational skills, and the desire to learn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work without supervision
Leadership and strong interpersonal skills.

SUMMARY

The Application Administrator is responsible for the implementation and administration of internal business applications, IT utility applications, as well as customer facing applications. This key position will collaborate closely with the IT Operations, System Administration, DBA and Engineering teams, as well as Development and QA to provide stable, scalable application environments. This role is accountable for maintaining applications, including release management, patching, monitoring, and upgrades. This will include participation in application specific forums, technology symposiums, users groups, etc., as well working with vendors to define technology stacks and develop roadmaps for the solutions.

Essential Duties:

Primary responsibilities will include the administration and support for internal applications, including installation, configuration and administration of the following systems:
• SharePoint
• CRM
• Tivoli – Job Scheduler
• Data Stage
• Element Tool
• Monitoring solutions – Splunk, Nagios, etc.
• Cognos
• Discover
• Oracle (client installs)
• PDE Environment
• WTX Environment
• Backup for Windows environment


Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Works with Infrastructure and Operations, Database Administration, Development and QA teams to troubleshoot potential environment issues and determine new requirements.

• Establishes and refines repeatable, structured processes and procedures for creating and administering application environments; including application and configuration management and change control procedures, as necessary.

• Documents and updates repeatable, structured processes and procedures for creating and administering application environments.

• Concurrently manage multiple technical projects and environments.



EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent of 3-5 years of related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS


• 3 - 5 years' experience in systems and/or application administration, development and support.

• Must have an understanding of the interdependencies between systems software, application software, network, and the multiple platforms supported, as well as an understanding of the needs of business units, customers, and end users.

• Able to work and contribute to a team environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be flexible, detail oriented and organized.

• Ability to multitask with multiple projects and work independently.

• Microsoft Windows System Administration.

• Knowledge of databases.

• Knowledge of UNIX environments, i.e.,command lines, etc.

• Proven experience and administration of internal IT applications.

• Proven experience with supporting multiple applications in a 24x7x365 environment and partake in the on-call rotation.

• Solid understanding and working with or administrating Linux or Windows servers.

• Troubleshooting expertise.

• Knowledge and utilization of open source software, a plus
