In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage the Database Development Team responsible for architecture, data integrity & reporting and ensure a quality solution is built to meet ViaSat's expectations.  You will proactively manage complex architecture, development and deployment problems, as well as establish and enforce processes, standards, measures and metric around work products. If you enjoy providing technical thought leadership and pragmatic recommendations for solutions, this is the role for you! Ideal candidates will be accountable for smooth functioning and delivery of platform features & functionalities and adapt departmental plans/priorities to address business and operational challenges. Additionally, you will ensure solutions are aligned with our customers and departments goals and objectives, as well as oversee all projects related to delivering the operational reports and customer metrics to the business units. This role also offers the opportunity to provide guidance and decision making on vendor selection and systems integration, as well as foster and maintain collaborative relationships with our business partners and other software and engineering teams.

Experience/Skills Required
Requirements:

·               BA/BS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent exp.
·               Up to 10% travel.
·               US Citizenship
·               Experience in maintaining DB development practices to SOX, PCI and Common Data Security best practices.
·               Extensive software experience using various SDLC's.
·               Strong knowledge of Oracle Stored procedures using PL/SQL.
·               Experience with BI solutions.
·               Extensive experience in Oracle Database Tools/Technologies environment supporting millions of transactions.
·               Experience building and maintaining a reporting data warehouse and infrastructure.

Preferences:

·               Informatica and Noetix products experience.
·               Oracle RDBMS and Java experience.
·               Previously managed teams of 5 or more SW development resources and have a broad and deep background in various technologies and have a proven record of success meeting strategic business goals.
