Summary
Responsible for security software development. Responsible for infrastructure engineering within the security realm. Ensures infrastructure is healthy and up to date by writing automation scripts to ease some tasks, digging into security systems to find pangs and hang-ups.
Essential Duties* Safeguards networks against unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure. Researches, evaluates, designs, tests, recommends, communicates, and implements new security software or devices. Implements, enforces, communicates, and may develop internet, network, or other information security policies or security plans for data, internet, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and computer.
* Responsible for analyzing network security systems (LAN/WAN, telecommunications, voice systems, internet) and/or other information systems.
Education and Experience*
Experience: 7+ yrs
* Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
* Field Of Study: Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
* A combination of education and experience is acceptable: Yes
* Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
* Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities- Fluent in at least one scripting language such as Perl, Python or Shell
- Experience with databases such as Postgres, MySQL, SQLite
- Very knowledgeable of TCP/IP networking
- Very high level of skill with at least one of Linux, Windows, Solaris, Mac OSX
- Security tools and concepts such as firewalls, vulnerability scanning
- Familiar with monitoring tools and technologies such as Nagios, Cacti, MRTG, Munin, SNMP, etc.
Work Environment*
Government Security Required: No
Sits five to seven hours per day. Stands and or walks one to three hours per day. May bend, reach, stoop and crouch throughout the day. Should have the ability to hear, speak and see effectively to perform the necessary tasks of this position. Manual dexterity is occasionally required. The position may require frequent movement and activity relating to using keyboards, viewing data on computer displays, and communicating verbally and in writing to the needs of others. The employee-owner may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
Qualifications
Fluency in Java/J2EE and/or PHP (at least one is required, both are preferable). Familiarity with the Spring Framework preferred. Familiarity with other major industry programming languages preferred, notably: C, C++, and C#. Familiarity with Apache Hadoop, Cassandra, Flume and related or similar technologies preferred.

* Participate hands-on in the documentation and development of high-performance Network and System architecturesand components.
* Work in an iterative development environment responsible for solving a wide array of problems.
* Ensure developed solution implementations conform to quality, performance, and interoperability standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivation and drive, with the ability to estimate, plan, prioritize and multitask
