ViaWest, Inc., a super-regional provider of colocation and managed hosting solutions has a full-time opportunity for a Database Engineer - SQL to provide database related duties for internal and customer production databases. Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide database administrative support for multiple customers as requested
• Install and administer database applications based on Viawest standards
• Monitor, manage and maintain backup and recovery schedules
• Plan and perform regular reviews and mock recoveries of database environments
• Participate in regular 7X24 ‘on-call’ duties for database administration management and support
• Follow database policies and procedures
Job Requirements:
• 4+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server
• 2+ years in a hosted environment or a combination of experience and equivalent certification
• 3+ years working with operating systems such as Linux, Windows Server and Unix
• 1+ years of database tuning, design and migration
• 1+ years experience of application development
• 500GB+ size database experience
• Additional experience with Oracle, MySQL, and/or PostreSQL advantageous
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
• Works well in a team environment
• Works effectively in a dynamic and changing environment.
• Strong commitment to customer service
• Database related certification(s)
• O/S related certification
• Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related field preferred
