EchoStar - Software Technical Specialist

Summary   
EchoStar has a unique opportunity in our Software Configuration Department for a Technical Specialist. If you have at least 1 year of actual experience working with software test, release, configuration management and/or software verification process this could be a great chance for you to continue to build your technical career. We would also consider someone who has at least 2 years of technical training or education and some experience or familiarity with the software test, configuration management process.

Duties and Responsibilities   
Provide a focal point for all software releases; accommodate requests for releases via the appropriate medium (i.e. official test requests).

Perform software release build verifications; perform release source code audits to ensure release integrity.

Create satellite software upgrades (downloads) via pre-established test & release procedures and documentation.

Work with various members of the Engineering team to schedule, test, and release software and/or download streams for both internal and external use.

Generate, collect, and release documentation for each software and/or download release as defined in the release procedures.

Skills and Qualifications   

Assist in the creation, formalization, enforcement, and updates of informal and formal ftware release procedures with input from the Software engineering group.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret most complex documents and to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Ability to write simple correspondence. 

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Proven fast-learner; basic knowledge of software release and SCM processes; proven written/verbal communication skills; and detailed-oriented. MS Access, Serena PVCS, Serena Dimensions, CVS, ClearCase (or other similar version control system), and Oracle knowledge, a plus.
