ServiceMagic - Network Analyst

ServiceMagic is looking for a leader to help build out our growing network and server infrastructure, while keeping it all on-line, stable, fast, and secure. If that's you, you might be our new Systems and Network Analyst. This full-time position, working from our Corporate Headquarters just west of downtown Denver, CO, is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate both your technical leadership and ability to flawlessly execute; plus, we'll provide ample opportunity to continue the growth of your management and technical skills.

The person is this position is responsible for:
-    Relentless pursuit of uptime for our production network, server and storage infrastructure.
-    Planning for growth, managing and supporting our production network, server and storage infrastructure.
-    Participating in Tier 2 on-all rotation and responding to Tier 2 escalations (a week-long stint every 3 weeks).
-    Maintaining Operating System and infrastructure application and hardware upgrades.
-    Assisting all technical and business teams in design, implementation and maintenance of their projects.
-    Maintaining documentation and testing our redundancy and disaster recovery procedures.
-    Analyzing and monitoring our infrastructure to discover opportunities to improve reliability, resiliency or performance.
-    Recommending and implementing additions or changes to our infrastructure to improve reliability, resiliency or performance.

Experience and skills you'll need to be successful:
-    Good judgment and trouble-shooting skills when dealing with production-impacting changes and problems.
-    Demonstrable, deep experience with current Cisco networking products (ASA Firewalls, 3800/3900 series routers, 4500 series switches, Ironport, etc.) in a 7x24 production environment. Yes, there will be a test.
-    Familiarity with application load balancers (Foundry ServerIron is what we currently use).
-    BIND, Sendmail, Port25's PowerMTA and a whole slew of standards and protocols, such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, ARP, HSRP, NAT, STP, 802.1Q.
-    Strong experience with a Linux distro in a production environment.
-    Strong experience with VMWare hosts and Linux guests.
-    Experience managing storage infrastructure, either direct-attached or in a SAN.
-    Some experience managing systems supporting Oracle databases.
-    Application familiarity and configuration experience with common open-source infrastructure found in modern web companies, such as: Apache, Tomcat, etc.
-    Disciplined approach to maintenance and upgrades - you need to be able to accurately document and execute any and all proposed changes.
-    Good written and verbal communication, particularly of technical subjects, and good listening skills.
-    Awareness of when you're in over your head and need to call in the cavalry, and a cool head when things don't go as planned
-    Ownership of both the good and bad things you do.
-    The ability to follow written and verbal directions and procedures to the letter, and the wisdom to know when those need to be thrown out the window.
