Supervisor, Application & Database Devel - Spotlight - Englewood - 69990185
Englewood, CO
Responsible for the supervision and coordination of development activities for multiple application systems. Customarily and regularly directs the work of at least two or more other full-time employees or their equivalent.
Performs aspects of database administration including software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, security administration, backup and recovery planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards and procedures.
Together with business analysts and IT support team members participates in the design, implementation, configuration and support of applications in our development, test, and production environments.
Tasks:
- Provides expertise in more than one functional area of technology and
provides architecture and design solutions for new applications or
application enhancements.
- Leads application development team to determine system requirements,
design application systems, and estimates resources, milestones, and
completion times.
- Provides direct supervision and leadership to Developers and provides
input to performance reviews.
- Manages and monitors problem resolution by determining urgency of
problems/issues and assigning and assisting team members in
troubleshooting; acts upon escalations as needed.
- Works within project specifications to meet goals and objectives in a
timely and accurate manner; raises issues expediently that could impede
the project specifications or timelines.
- Works with Business Partners when developing technical requirements,
design, and status regarding production issues.
- Ensures Developers are adhering to System Engineering standards such
as, and not limited to, documentation, source control procedures, design
reviews, architectural standards, and code reviews.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Designs and implement databases that address current and future business needs. Monitors and maintains database platforms to perform at optimum performance levels.
- Reviews system capacity and performance to assess future growth.
- Provides direct supervision and leadership to Developers and provides input to employee performance reviews.
- Provides oversight and testing of data backup and recovery plans.
- Develops and implements plans to oversee the database administration function and ensures smooth transition to new technology. Provides recommendations on database technologies and features.
- Works with the network and security teams to ensure database adherence to security standards.
