McGraw-Hill - Senior Database Architect

Bentek is currently seeking a Senior Database Architect to join their team.  The Senior Database Architect is responsible for analyzing the use of data and interpreting data directly to the goals of Bentek Energy in a way that provides unambiguous results. The incumbent must guarantee the accuracy and accessibility of all valuable data, and be tasked for knowing what data is important and why.


Responsibilities:  

•Responsible for identifying and interpreting the data needs of specific business groups.
•Responsible for overseeing the design, assessment, development, implementation and maintenance of the major databases and metadata structures.
•Responsible for observing and keeping up with industry trends and new technologies in order to provide sound technical recommendations to senior management.
•Responsible for formulating data and metadata policies and procedures for functional design and development to build, maintain and upgrade the data model, also while ensuring compliance with corporate data standards.


Qualifications

Required:

•Strong experience in interpreting business requirements into a plan to design, develop, implement and maintain database systems to meet company goals, as well as completing from start to end database solutions for the company.
•Strong experience with master data concepts.
•Experience in Database Administration knowledge in SQL Server ( 2005, 2008 R2,  and 2012 )
•Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, database mirroring issues, security issues, etc.
•Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
•Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU problems, memory problems, I/O problems, and disk space and other resource contention.
•Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
•Knowledge of how indexes work, index management, integrity checks, server configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
•Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Profiler, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs)
•SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design using T-SQL ( stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints )
•Acquaintance with windows server 2008 R2, security delegation, SPNs, storage components. 


Preferred:

•Experience with Powershell and or SSIS desired.
•Any experience with the BI stack - SSIS, SSRS, SSAS desired.
