SummaryPlans, designs, develops, and implements network engineering plans of moderate scope and complexity. Develops design documentation and training in support of network configurations and new technology introductions. Provides technical support in customer interaction situations, including design, test, and service requests. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. Identifies and develops requirements for the IT organization for provisioning, inventory, and billing functionality. Debugs and tests networks, plans projects, and performs needs assessments. Regarded as Subject Matter Expert for specific features and/or equipment types.

Essential Duties* Audits and optimizes existing designs by demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
* Develops detailed engineering plan designs and standards by interacting with cross-functional peers both internal and external.
* Writes method of procedure documents and templates for internal and external execution.
* Provides technical support for standard activation, deployment, and maintenance activities and issues.
* Identifies and develops functional test requirements and analyzes test results. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. 20 %

Education and Experience* Experience: 5+ yrs
* Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
* Field Of Study: Engineering or related field
* A combination of education and experience is acceptable: Yes
* Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
* Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.

Knowledge, Skills or AbilitiesAn experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; competent in resolving issues in primary area of expertise. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly professional and self motivated with the ability to work well independently and on a team. Good troubleshooting skills and methodologies. Experienced in analyzing issues, distilling and communicating their relevant aspects. Ability to work multiple efforts and projects in parallel. Emerging leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to proactively identify risks/issues and develop recommendations for resolution Familiarity with SIP, H.323, ISDN, SS7, CAS, and IP protocols Familiarity with Sonus, Acme Packets, LINUX/UNIX, Radware, and Broadsoft devices. Experienced in Java/C development for distributed Unix-based systems. Experience with Hazelcast, JBOSS, ColdFusion, Web Services such as SOAP/XML, REST, etc. SQL/Database development experience in various DBMS including Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, HSQL, etc.

Work Environment* Government Security Required: No

Sits five to seven hours per day. Stands and or walks one to three hours per day. May bend, reach, stoop and crouch throughout the day. Should have the ability to hear, speak and see effectively to perform the necessary tasks of this position. Manual dexterity is occasionally required. The position may require frequent movement and activity relating to using keyboards, viewing data on computer displays, and communicating verbally and in writing to the needs of others. The employee-owner may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
