TIAA-CREF - Systems Administrator

This position requires a professional with at least 3 years of experience in the IT industry or related studies. Candidates must have a very strong background in VMware and related virtualization technologies and possess detailed working knowledge as deployed in a mission-critical, multi-site enterprise environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deploy, troubleshoot and enhance enterprise VMware platforms for a multi-site organization, including ESX, P2V, operating system, hardware and server build (host, guest) standards.
Develop technical partnerships with key support, architecture, and engineering teams.
Diagnose VMware platform issues in complex, business-critical environments.
Provide 1st and 2nd level administration support for an enterprise-wide VMware distributed server platform, including related technologies such as ESX server, vMotion, vCenter, Lab Manager, SRM, Converter, etc.
Support (build, configure, patch, upgrade, optimize, etc…) enterprise VMware platforms for a mission-critical, multi-site enterprise environment.
Produce basic project plans, root cause analysis documents and report on progress to management.


Qualifications

Hands on experience with VMware and related technologies, preferably in an administration (vs. engineering) capacity, including implementation of VMware infrastructure and integration into new and existing systems.

Experience with VMware troubleshooting, server tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.

Functional systems administration group experience, preferably in the financial services sector.

Experience with Windows (2003/2000) operation systems engineering/administration.

Experience with Intel hardware, including blades.

Scripting experience (PowerShell, PERL, etc).

Server clustering technologies.

SAN/NAS (preferably Hitachi and NetApp).

Anti-Virus technologies (e.g. Symantec).

Enterprise Backup technologies (e.g. TSM).

Systems management technologies (e.g. Tivoli Framework/related products).

LAN/WAN technologies and network protocols (e.g. routers, switches, TCP/IP).

Database technologies (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server).

Professional certifications (e.g. VCP, VCDX).

A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
