Education Sales Management - Database Architect

ESM is a virtual admissions department focused exclusively on working with educational institutions to increase enrollments and improve retention. ESM is the largest education-only call center in the country. Our focus has been and will continue to be on delivering contact center services to the education industry.


This position is a technical leadership role involved in the architecture, design and development, as well as the tuning of new and established SQL databases and related applications. The database architect participates in the definition of the overall delivery strategy of large data initiatives such us data migration and consolidation, data warehousing, data quality, and master data management.


Responsibilities

Create and perform database and system maintenance policy and procedures
Design and construct relational databases for data warehousing
Develops data modeling and is responsible for data acquisition and access, analysis and design
Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing warehouse structure
Perform and document disaster recovery functions
Determine and maintain database sizing requirements
Ensure that configurations and scheduled jobs are maintained
Diagnose database and system performance problems
Configuration--Determine how SQL Server should be configured for optimum performance including all configuration settings
Maintain a baseline and perform data layer load balancing-- which clients on what servers from a database perspective
Assist customers and data analysts with reporting and querying of DB
Develop scripts for system management needs
Assist with planning, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of SQL systems and make recommendations for improvements/upgrades
Moderate experience with Visual Basic, and other scripting languages
Responsible for data architecture as it relates to application development


Requirements:
5-8 years of hands on industry experience working with enterprise-class database systems/applications with some experience filling the role of database technical lead or consultant
SQL DBA with at least 2 recent years in a MS SQL Server specific environment
End-to-end full life-cycle DBA experience
Expertise with building & rebuilding databases (fresh or from backups)
Expertise with table/index design
Expertise with performance tuning
Experience with administrating backups and cleanup tasks (crucial for this position)
Strong design skills
Experience with advanced database clustering/mirroring technologies
Maintaining data integrity and cleaning up bad/old data will also be a priority
Detail oriented (for change management)
Business intelligence
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
