The successful candidate is responsible for the overall lifecycle of strategic in-house developed business applications, databases, and production processing. This position is accountable to provide the business with timely, useful, and stable solutions to meet the needs of the business. Through team building, mentoring, and coaching, this management position will cultivate a staff of highly skilled, efficient, and productive developers who*s product solutions will drive the efficiencies of business processing, reporting, and workflow.

Essential Functions Summary:
* Direct the design, development, and deployment of application software and enterprise level databases over a cross-platform environment to effectively and efficiently support Colorado Access business needs.
* Facilitate the appropriate processes and escalations to ensure enterprise database efforts are aligned with current business needs.
* Enforce data ownership by identifying company wide departmental accountabilities and roles around corporate data.
* Ensure data integrity by maintaining these data ownership roles through stringent processes and security mechanisms.
* Motivate and provide leadership and vision to subordinates ensuring each employee is performing to the best of their ability.
* Manage dependencies, errors, and notifications to ensure accurate and timely data processing.
* Remain continuously aware of business, technical, and infrastructure issues and develop creative solutions to business needs.

Requirements/Experience:
* College degree in Computer Science or other closely related field.
* Eight (8) years progressive experience in Information Technology in an application software development or database / data-warehouse development environment.
* Three (3) years experience in a technology leadership role.
* Two (2) years in a management or supervisory role over staff that develop, support, and/or maintain mission critical applications and/or databases.
* Understanding of Database Management software (Oracle preferred), systems components and Database Management tools.
* Understanding of n-tier software application development. Related experience or education may be substituted for part of the above requirements
* Experience in Applications and/or Database/Data-warehouse development methodologies, architectures, and deploying advanced technology solutions for
* Experience with overseeing medium to large mission critical business processes. relational databases and data warehouses.
* MS Office Professional, Windows, Advanced understanding of the use and application of the following technologies: UNIX, Java, J2EE, Middle Tier technologies, SQL, n-tier architecture, data access security, data modeling, CASE tools, Web development, Query & Reporting tools (Brio, Business Objects, etc.), Rules engines, job schedulers.

Responsible for providing a quality, high performance database processing environment by defining assigned database tables and coordinating physical changes to computer databases in a timely manner while adhering to established departmental standards and procedures

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

* Assist with the tuning and performance of the database environment, determining optimum values for database attributes

* Select and enter codes of utility program to monitor database performance such as distribution of data and amount of available memory, making necessary modifications to decrease database response times and increase processing performance
* Perform testing of designed transaction processing environment, testing for performance, stability, fail over, and new database versions
* Keep up * to * date on current and new releases of database platforms and technology, planning migration strategy accordingly
* Assist in the development of scripts, documentation, and procedures for database administration, testing, and production
* Ensure data integrity and security according to departmental standards and procedures
* Identify back up plan and content to ensure data is protected, ensuring data recovery is available and restored in a timely manner
* May be required to ensure backups do not exceed configured space, which may include ensuring adequate back up media exist
* Define and monitor user permissions to ensure data is protected from unauthorized users
On Call Support - Strive to enhance the department's relationship with customers ensuring the highest quality, responsive service possible is provided
* Provide on-call support for problems relating to assigned databases adhering to department policies and procedures
* Track all problems ensuring the quality and timely resolution of problems and the unique needs of every customer are exceeded
* Assist in minimizing on call support issues by having access to or keeping up to date on change control documentation
* Respond to 24-hour/7-day-per-week service needs as required
* Escalate to supervisor any situation outside the employee*s control that could adversely impact the services provided
* Ensure disaster recovery and business procedures are appropriately utilized as established by management, documenting all problems and resolutions on a daily basis
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.
Education
Associate*s degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is required
Bachelor*s degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements
Experience
Minimum one year experience in computer science or MIS required, preferably to include database administration experience
Technical Knowledge
Based on area of responsibility and departmental need, knowledge of: one program platform (Tandem OS, UNIX) is required and knowledge of SQL fundamentals in preferred (i.e., Tandem SQL, Informix, FOCUS, IBM DB2, NT SQL Server, etc.) is preferred

Brief Description of Role:

This role is for a production support analyst for a complex Java-based application. This is a shift position, with coverage hours around the Bond Trading Day (Eastern time 8:30am to 5pm). The role provides 1st level application support for the Schwab Bond Source application users and is the interface to the other Schwab technology domains, channels and external dealers. The person in this role will learn by doing and will be mentored by senior technical staff. This role leads and participates in technical troubleshooting calls and resolves application problems in production environments under time-bound situations, generally following documented problem resolution processes. Must be able to work under the pressure of restoring service to customer-facing applications. A key function is to closely monitor and quickly respond to inquiries to the production support mail box. Technical/Functional Qualifications:

What You Offer:


Seeking Junior Level Microsoft SQL Server and C++ engineer to help with supporting Production applications and databases. Position involves monitoring Production systems, troubleshooting SQL stored procedures, C++ and JavaScript. Must have the ability to troubleshoot complex problems, manage multiple priorities simultaneously and have excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills. Candidate must be a team player who is highly self-motivated and quick to learn. Opportunity to be involved in a fun, fast paced environment, grow your Transact-SQL skills and advance. Bachelor's degree preferred.
