POSITION SUMMARY

The global database group is responsible for support of the database management systems for Visa Inc. This includes installation, deployment, and maintenance of database management systems.


JOB SCOPE

This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving complex problems and taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. This role serves as a technical/functional specialist and works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations.
Plan execute and manage database server implementation and test to ensure all security, quality and compliance are met.
Accountable for the performance and availability of databases in production environment.
Provide consultation support to project managers and developers to understand operational requirements.
Ability to participate in engineering aspects of technical design, solution and approaches for database requirements in projects.
Participate in operation acceptance test and prepare operation documentation and procedures for ongoing support
Review and revise testing and implementation procedure to be in compliance to Visa policy requirements.
Database administration in term of installation, change control, system security, problem management and privileges.
Availability to perform in-depth troubleshooting and problem analysis for database production problems, this includes
Develop and maintain standards for database administration, monitoring and control.
Provide management reporting and updates and to perform post-event analysis to improve service delivery and management
Perform review and product evaluation to improve the support effectiveness and operation efficiency
Provide 24X7 Support to several Visa application
Availability to perform in-depth troubleshooting and problem analysis for database production problems, this includes coordination of remedial actions from vendors and developers.
Provide management reporting and updates and to perform post-event analysis to improve service delivery and management.
Perform review and product evaluation to improve the support effectiveness and operation efficiency
Provide 24X7 Support to several Visa application


REQUIREMENTS


Bachelors/Degree in Computer Science or other technology field or equivalent experience; typically requires a minimum of 5-7 years experience which includes database administration for OLTP as well as large databases.
Strong knowledge of operating systems, scripting languages, data modeling and business intelligence tools.
Strongly prefer a candidate who has certification in Oracle, SQL/Server, and Mainframe UDB.
Strong process orientation and exhibited planning, organizational and problem solving skills.
Good interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and database environment issues.
Demonstrate ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs.
