POSITION PURPOSE:

The Group Manager of BI works directly with the business and the IS
department to understand strategy, and then leverages BI team Architects
and Lead Developers to design and deliver solutions aligned with that
strategy. The successful candidate will strongly partner with key
business stakeholders to understand requirements and identify
opportunities for BI solutions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Guides the overall strategy, architecture, and design of BI systems in
alignment with Sports Authority standards and strategies.

- Leads and directs the work of the BI team, including architects,
leads, and developers;

- Applies project management and systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
process to information technology projects from concept through
implementation. Ensures projects and deliverables are on-time, on
budget, and of high quality;

- Reviews, facilitates, and gains buy-in for application requirements
(including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and
operations requirements);

- Manages solution design, development, testing, and roll-out to ensure
that user expectations are met with high-quality deliverables;

- Handles risks and issue escalations; resolves design-related issues;
understands capabilities and limitations of technical environments and
maximizes results;

- Enthusiastically collaborates with business partners, proposing
technology solutions to business problems;

- Facilitates and ensures intra-team and inter-team collaboration;

- Identifies improvement opportunities across IS for systems, standards,
processes, and strategies;

- Works with industry vendors, consultants and partners to maintain a
current industry knowledge of software and hardware products to aide in
recommendations;

- Collaborates with other IS Managers and Directors to ensure the
delivery of a unified architecture across the portfolio of applications;


- Partner with IT senior management to develop strategic & tactical
plans to support business strategies;

- Works with the Director of Information Management and PMO to support
business case development; Estimates development as well as maintenance
and enhancement costs; Calculates and demonstrates return on investment.


- Sets and communicates clear department goals and objectives with
entire subordinate team, holding each Associate accountable to
individual expectations;

- Responsible for BI team hiring, training, individual development
plans, performance reviews, and succession planning;

- Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- BA/BS degree in business or computer science;

- Strong experience in the IT industry (7+ years);

- Experience deploying BI / data warehouse solutions (5+ years);

- Application Development Management experience (3+ years);

- Project Management experience (2+ years) Agile project management
experience a plus;

- Strong client management and negotiation skills;

- Strong problem solving and analytic skills to translate business
problems into systems solutions;

- Strong leadership with the ability to inspire and coach team mates to
accomplish strategic goals and related tasks;

- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to manage
communication with project or program stakeholders at all levels;

- Ability to express business and technical concepts clearly and
concisely both verbally and in writing.

- Excellent people management skills. Ability to produce high
performance teams;

- Understands process improvement and change management concepts;

- Proven experience in directing the design, development, and
implementation of scalable technology solutions;

- Strong practical knowledge in Data Modeling, ETL, BI Reporting
Solutions, MDM, and Data Quality;

- Must have a wide range of technical experience, such as the following:
UNIX/LINUX, Oracle RDBMS, Microstrategy, SQL Server, and JAVA-based
portals;

- Experience with best practices for data modeling and architectural
design in data warehousing;

- Experience in product selection and contracting technical services;

- Ability to map business pains and opportunities to IS solutions;

- Highly self-motivated and directed;

- Strong customer service orientation;

- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

- Retail Industry Experience a plus;
