Description:
We have a permanent position as a Database Support Engineer for our client in Louisville. The purpose of this job is to minimize customer downtime by providing back line technical support and problem solving capabilities to a 24/7/365-hosted product base. The position ensures production systems are properly tuned, efficiently running, and properly maintained with an emphasis on database performance and application interdependencies. The position also designs, develops, tests, and implements monitoring and response tools that improve the customer experience and provide operational indicators to the company*s management.
The ideal candidate will exercise independent judgment in most circumstances under limited supervision.
Database
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of databases and data transformation concepts, tools and common practices
* Proficiency in interpreting and debugging Oracle SQL queries and stored procedures
* Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve database performance, data and configuration issues
* Ability to create, interpret and present data schemas
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Oracle SQL commands (required)
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS SQL commands (desired)
Support
* Must be flexible and motivated to work in a fast paced environment
* Strong communication skills, excellent written and verbal skills
* Proven ability to deliver appropriate resolutions across functional boundaries, i.e. technical, procedural and operational issues.
* Lead support resolution issue initiatives, not follow.
* Proficiency with Perl or other scripting languages. (Unix ksh, Unix bash, etc)
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of EDI concepts and mapping principles
* Customer-focused attitude
* Intermediate knowledge of and Unix (Solaris/Linix ) Administration
Education
* MS/BS degree in a suitable technical field or related discipline (preferred)
* Oracle DBA certification (desired)
