We are currently seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA within our Corporate IT department.

The responsibilities of this role include:
- Ensuring database availability, performance, and continuance.
Designing, implementing and monitoring database backup and recovery schemes.
- Implementing performance optimization techniques of SQL Server databases and storage.
- Providing support for SQL clustering, replication and DTS/SSIS job scheduling.
- Executing and tracking benchmark metrics related to database performance, and availability.
- Providing periodic reviews of database engine performance and monitoring levels
- Devising solutions to operational challenges of multiple database platforms.
- Designing, testing, and documenting upgrades to Echostar*s SQL Server database environments.
- Facilitating customer negotiations and maintain excellence in customer relations.
- Providing training and mentoring to other Database Administrators at the company.

Minimum qualifications to be considered are:
- Bachelor*s degree (preferably in Computer Science or MIS/CIS) and Microsoft MCDBA preferred.
- 7+ years experience as on operational DBA on various RDBMSs, with an emphasis on SQL Server and secondarily Oracle.
- Applicant must have good knowledge of application hardware devices, operating systems, storage units, networks and how they interrelate.
- Applicant should have solid experience with Windows operating system and T-SQL.
- Applicant must work effectively with other Database Administrators, System Administrators, Project Managers, Developers and management to provide timely execution and support for business systems, planning, implementation and increased system uptimes.
- Applicant must be able to quickly learn the working environment, whether technical or business, through self initiative and direction from senior staff and peers. The applicant must assist in mentoring team members and other workers relating to the job function and demonstrate leadership through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills and professionalism.
- Applicant must be able to participate effectively on a team and in enterprise projects.

We are currently seeking a Senior Teradata Database Administrator within our Corporate IT department.

The responsibilities of this role include:
1) Administrator for a twelve node teradata production environment and smaller test and production environements.
2) Create, maintain, and support Teradata architectural environment.
3) Physical database design.
4) Administration of production objects in change control environment.
5) Development of pro-active processes for monitoring capacity and performance.
6) Perform system level and application level tuning.
7) Support the application development teams for database needs and guidance.
8) Perform backup and recovery operations.
9) Support of production processes.
10) Support of end user queries.
11) Database security administration.
12) On-call support.

Minimum qualifications to be considered are:
1) 5+ years experience in a large database environment, with at least 2 years focused on Teradata.
2) Bachelors degree from a four year college in a computer related field required.
3) Strong in database design, tuning, and trouble shooting.
4) Very familiar with BTEQ, TPUMP and QueryMan tools.
5) Experiences in backup and restore (BAR) design and implementation using Veratis and Storage Tek.
6) Ability to create database objects for tables, users, roles, profiles, grants, etc.
7) Design and monitor alerts, database parameters, and performance metrics.
8) Organize and manage patches and releases.
9) Perform administrative functions related to database support and project activities.
10) Must be proficient in Teradata tools including Teradata Manager, Teradata's Priority Scheduler, and BTEQ.
11) Very familiar with Unix Scripting languages.
12) Excellent personal communication, leadership and organizational skills.
13) Addition experience with Oracle and SQL Server administration a plus.

- Supporting and implementing upgrades for all Oracle databases.
- Providing performance assessment and tuning as related to the operating system, the database, and the disk subsystem.
- Providing periodic reviews of database engine performance and monitoring levels.
- Automating regular maintenance and monitoring tasks.
- Defining and implementing of best practices methodologies for Oracle Applications support, patching, refreshes and maintenance.
- Providing technical leadership for interfacing with system administrators, technical managers, developers, and architects.
- Demonstrating leadership through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills and professionalism.
- Designing, implementing and monitoring database backup and recovery processes.

Minimum qualifications to be considered are:
- Bachelor*s degree (preferably in Computer Science or MIS/CIS); Oracle Certification preferred.
- 5+ years experience as an operational DBA on various RDBMSs, with an emphasis on Oracle and secondarily SQL Server and Teradata.
- Experience in Oracle 9i, 10g, and 11g.

- Management of a team of six Offshore DBA's in India.
- Performance of employee performance reviews.

- This position is primarily a day shift, but requires night and weekend work, both scheduled and unscheduled.
- Requires the use of a pager 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- Knowledge and experience in an ITIL environment.
- Proven advanced level analytical and problem solving skills.
- Extensive vendor management skills.
- In depth Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
- Systems monitoring and reporting.
- Experience with HP-UX, Solaris and Windows OS helpful.
