gloo - Senior Engineer

gloo is a fully-funded startup in Boulder CO that has exited beta and
launched our mobile apps (iOS and Android) and web clients.  We are in
search of someone to join our team of developers focused on our
interactive, mobile publishing platform.  You will help us maintain this
platform and work with us to guide its evolution and expansion as a key
member of our technical architecture council.

How you MIGHT spend your day

    * Designing, developing and maintaining our web client and APIs
    * Leading a team of talented web application engineers so that
everyone is as busy and happy as they can be
    * Working with the product team to turn our customer's vision
into reality
    * Working alongside our other development teasm to make sure the
puzzle fits together perfectly
    * Applying your best practice experience in
test-driven/behavior-driven development to deliver rock solid product
    * Thinking through a tough challenge over a game of foosball

A bit about you:

    * You have at least 5 years of front end web application development
experience – primarily Javascript, HTML5 and CSS.
    * You might have played with Clojure on Ring or Scala on Play 2.0 and
are excited by the possibilities
    * You aren't afraid of SQL queries – after all, most
applications have a database (we use Postgres)
    * Your projects might include responsive web applications, content
management systems, mobile apps, ecommerce sites and learning management
systems
    * You have a passion delivering high performing, well-written
software that is easy to maintain
    * You have worked with service APIs and have experience with Ajax
frameworks
    * You have worked in an early-stage company so you know what it means
to shift priorities and wear a bunch of hats
    * Open Source tools are your preferred sandbox
    * You are an organized professional capable of managing your time,
tasks and activities without daily guidance
    * You have a talent for making sense out of obscurity – you
immediately begin executing concepts in your mind the moment someone has
an idea
    * Building strong and long-standing relationships is an important
part of your being

Experiential Requirements

    * You have at least 7 years of experience as a software engineer with
maybe 2 years of full stack Rails experience;  you know 3.2.x,
up/down/inside and out
    * You aren't afraid of SQL queries – after all, most
applications have a database (we use Postgres)
    * Your past projects might include web applications, content
management systems, mobile apps, ecommerce sites and learning management
systems
    * You have a passion for delivering high performing, well-architected
software that is easy to maintain
    * You thrive in an environment where "what if" is commonplace

    * You have worked in an early-stage company so you know what it means

gathering and analytics engine with the ability to consume
unstructured/structured data, produce meaningful results that will help
our customers measure their success, improve their outcomes and make
sound business decisions
    * Leading a team of talented engineers so that everyone is as busy
and happy as they can be
    * Working with the product team to turn our customer's vision
into reality
    * Working alongside our other teams to make sure the puzzle fits
together perfectly
    * Applying your best practice experience in
test-driven/behavior-driven development to elevate your team to a whole
new level
    * Forming a solid understanding of the rest of our technology stack
so that your talent can be valuable throughout the gloo community
    * Thinking through a tough challenge over a game of foosball

A bit about you:

    * You have at least 7 years of full-stack experience on JVM
(Java/Scala/Groovy/Clojure) based web applications.
    * Your experience building enterprise level SOA architecture
    * You might have played with Scala on Play 2.0 and are excited by the
possibilities
    * You have demonstrated competency working with Big Data and
producing reporting/analytics output that makes sense – Hive, Swarm
and Hadoop are incredibly useful here
    * Your projects might include web applications, content management
systems, ecommerce sites and learning management systems
    * You have a passion delivering high performing, well-architected
software that is easy to maintain
