Job Description
This position is for a Sr. Database Administrator with experience in Oracle 10g and/or 11g. Working with VLDB's (multiple terabyte) in a high availability, high volume transaction processing (OLTP) environment on various platforms including AIX, Linux, and Solaris. The right individual will be able to quickly grasp environments and become a working member of a team in a short period of time. Must be able to function in a fast-paced, high stress environment.

Production On-call support, fail-over testing, implementing database patches and upgrades, routine DBA activities. Position requires shift flexibility to work varying hours as required to support the business.

Designs, installs, maintains and upgrades the enterprise's production databases. Provides technical expertise in the use of database technology. Accountable for the overall performance of the enterprise's database environment. Works closely with clients, business analysts, systems programmers, and application developers to define and resolve information flow and content issues---helping to transform business requirements into environment specific databases. Monitors and analyzes performance metrics and allocates database resources to achieve optimum database performance. Works on multiple projects as a project leader, or sometimes as a project advisor. Supports multiple servers and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, and system feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of the data. Works independently on projects. Requires minimum coaching on interfacing with multiple IT groups and business units. Provides technical coaching to business functions and lower level database administrators on more complex issues.

Job Specific Responsibilities

* Designs , installs, maintains and upgrades the enterprise's production databases

* Provides technical expertise in the use of database technology

* Accountable for the overall performance of the enterprise's database environment

* Monitors and analyzes performance metrics and allocates database resources to achieve optimum database performance

* Works on multiple projects as a project leader, or sometimes as a project advisor

* Supports multiple servers and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, and system feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of the data

* Provides technical coaching to business functions and lower level database administrators on more complex issues

* Fail-over testing, implementing database patches and upgrades, routine DBA activities.
Candidate Requirements

* Expert in database administration, database monitoring and tuning, and physical database development. Understands the principles, theories, practices and techniques of Oracle database administration. Understands the technology impacts on business strategic direction enabling definition and integration of technical plans supporting the enterprise business functions and processes.Core skill set in the following areas:
· Database creation/upgrade
· Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting
· Security administration
· RMAN/Dataguard
· Capacity Planning and monitoring
· 7+ years of heavy Oracle database administration experience using
Oracle 10g and/or 11g in AIX and Solaris environments.
· Advanced skills and experience in PL/SQL and Unix shell scripting
· 24x7 on-call rotation and off-hour support as needed
· Able to function in a fast paced, high stress environment
· Experience with Golden Gate or Shareplex replication products a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS or related field.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Capable of training users in applications and operating system fundamentals and writing basic documentation.
