Senior Manager - Business Reporting

Golden, Colorado
Job Responsibilities

The Senior Manager of Business Reporting will be responsible for cross-departmental leadership in the creation of reporting functionality supportive of the company’s business objectives.
Working out of the corporate headquarters of our natural gas utility, the Senior Manager of Business Reporting owns the delivery of cost-effective reporting and analytics solutions enabling the achievement of strategic goals.
Design and execute cross-functional Business Intelligence and Enterprise projects by closely interacting with business leaders, managers, and field employees.
Identify, rationalize, and document reporting requirements.
Translate reporting requirements into functional specifications detailing the prescribed approach to successfully addressing business needs.
Utilize expertise learned in Cognos and SAP environments to lead teams in the creation of tools conforming to the specifications established.
Execute projects utilizing IT project management methodology, owning project lifecycle and coordinating business owner inputs (requirements, testing, and signoff).
Obtain and maintain technical understanding of the application suites in addition to how the business uses this information and the data flows from system to system.
Identify critical data accuracy projects to drive analytics improvements, ensuring consistent and accurate reporting across the business.
Perform programming tasks, design, code reviews, testing and documentation for BI projects.
Create reports and report definitions.
Embed reporting solutions in portals and transactional applications.
Continuously improve applications to maximize productivity and improve efficiencies.
Ensure that development standards are being followed.
Assist in defining, implementing, and maintaining the application-specific blueprints, life-cycle plans, and roadmaps.
Other duties as required.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Financial Planning, Analysis, and Risk.


Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; finance or IT discipline preferred.


Job Requirements

Demonstrated track record of success as a developer; Cognos emphasis critical.
Minimum 7 years of experience leading cross-functional teams.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience driving the creation and implementation of reporting functionality within an ERP environment (SAP).
Minimum 3 years of experience working with multiple programming languages, basic systems analysis techniques, testing, debugging, and documentation standards.
Minimum 3 years of intensive, hands-on experience with BI tools.
Bachelor’s degree required; finance or IT discipline preferred.
In-depth understanding of project management, including but not limited to budget and resource management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills specific to business and technical audiences.
Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
Must be able to perform all functions of the position.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge

Experience conforming BI tools to a regulated reporting environment ideal.
Experience specific to the utility industry strongly preferred.
FERC reporting experience preferred.
MBA or similar Masters-level degree in relevant field strongly preferred.
