EDUCAUSE - Programmer

EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, seeks a Technical Specialist.

Position Summary:
The EDUCAUSE Colorado-based headquarters features a state-of-the-art facility with video and voice conference amenities and a distributed staff with satellite offices across the United States.  The Technical Specialist will work closely with members of the organization in a client/customer role as well as work collaboratively with the existing members of the Information Technology - Admin team. The Technical Specialist position is full-time and based in the Louisville, CO office. The Specialist reports to the Manager, Network and Systems Administration.

Responsibilities:

*        Primary responsibility for technical support for both local and distributed staff

*        Assist team members in systems-related projects (plan, implement, manage)

*        Assist in supporting servers (configure, replace, maintain, patch, decommission) for Windows and Linux systems

*        As part of the IT admin team, administer applications including MS Exchange 2010, iMIS, MS Dynamics, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Citrix Access Essentials, VOIP phone system, and other systems

*        Shared after hours on-call duty

*        Travel to 3-6 EDUCAUSE events/conferences per year to support onsite network, speakers, and attendees

Required Experience/Skills:

*        Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

*        Significant work experience with Windows 7 and recent Mac operating systems

*        Prior experience supporting Windows and Mac users in a Windows domain environment

*        Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as a member of a team

*        Excellent attention to detail and emphasis on procedures and thorough documentation

*        Ability to lift 50 pounds

*        Work in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Experience/Skills:

*        Laptop, server, and appliance hardware support experience (RAID, firmware management, etc.)

*        Wired and wireless network support for users

*        Avaya IP Office or other VOIP phone system experience

*        Server backup management experience

*        Familiarity with virtualized server environments

*        Antivirus or endpoint protection management experience

*        Mobile device management

*        Nonprofit/Higher Education experience
