NBCUniversal - Senior Network Engineer

Responsibilities

NBCUniversal has an opening for Senior Network Engineer in the Operations and Technical Services group. The Senior Network Engineer will support IT technologies in a television production environment, and is tasked with ensuring network and IT stability for NBCUniversal’s broadcast and media preparation facility in Centennial Colorado. They will implement expeditious solutions to address and resolve requirements or issues placed on them by operations and the business. They will manage day-to-day operations, project workloads, design and implementation reviews, provide subject matter expertise and work closely with the on-air support engineers. The Senior Network Engineer will also work closely with NBCUniversal’s IT organization to ensure standardized platforms and systems are utilized whenever possible.

• Managing operations, implementation and projects in the areas of Routers, Switches, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Proxies, Load Balancers (F5), Firewalls (internet, 3rd party and internal), DMZ, Remote Access, Authentication (such as Radius), 3DNS, Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems (IDS), wireless authentication clients, traffic shaping and policy management and other operational/engineering activities as required.

• Leading the implementation of new IT and Network systems

• Commissioning Network Routers, Firewalls, and IT systems

• Available on-call on a 24x7 basis if needed to help support any on-air impacting outages

• Providing training and documentation of systems and support procedures to be utilized by the larger engineering and operations teams at the facility

• Leading investigations of issues within IT systems and their integration points to identify systematic issues and root causes

• Leading follow up with vendors to resolve system issues and drive future development

• Managing the testing and deployment of software patches and upgrades in the production environment

• Working with Engineering and Operations partners to develop strategy for system enhancements and growth

• Reporting current status of systems and on-going projects

• Providing support of IT systems with the corporate and broadcast infrastructure located at the Dry Creek facility

• Conducting new vendor product reviews and selection

• Training the 24x7 engineering team in support the IT and Network Systems


Qualifications/Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in networking, IT or broadcast engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2+ years in project management

• Experience with Database technologies such as Oracle or MS-SQL

• Experience with IT infrastructures including LAN, WAN, SAN, NAS, Firewalls

• Demonstrated successful design, planning and implementation of wide and local area network architecture, including capacity planning and technical troubleshooting

• Strong project management, organizational, implementation and communication skills

• Demonstrated expertise in network security and access control systems and related strategies.

• Flexibility with regard to schedule, including after hours and weekends as required to meet on-air operations needs is required

• Expertise working on a team with motivated cross functional individuals focused on a common goal of delivering cutting edge solutions to meet aggressive business demands in an ever changing environment

• CCNA or MCSE certified
