Our Web Application Engineer is a combined web development and systems
administration position responsible for extending, enhancing, and
supporting commercial and internal web-based applications utilized by
CableLabs and our extended cable industry user base.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with end users and technical staff to leverage our
collaboration systems across projects.
• Extend and enhance the functionality of the collaboration systems
by implementing and testing plugins, creating templates and spaces,
customizing the app format and layout, create user macros, create page
and site templates, and perform theme layout modifications.
• Add new features and capabilities utilizing, CSS, HTML,
Javascript, jQuery, Velocity templates and scripting languages.
• Implement and manage an online forums system.
• Administer security groups and permissions.
• Perform system configuration and administration on responsible
systems.
• Collaborate with the other team members on various internal
systems and projects.
REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of experience installing, configuring, administering and
training users with Confluence or equivalent web-based collaboration
systems.
• 5+ years of experience in web-based application enhancement and
development.
• Exceptional skills in customer service, end user support.
• Exceptional skills at working closely with teams.
• Proficient in web development technologies including CSS,
HTML/XHTML, Javascript, jQuery, Java Velocity templates, Python and Perl
scripting languages.
• Proficient in Apache, Postgres and Linux system administration and
operations
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex technical projects
simultaneously
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and technical
troubleshooting skills
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail. Able to suggest
and implement solutions and enhance operational efficiencies.
• Strong oral and written communications skills required; ability to
interact with technical and business teams in a positive & productive
manner to accomplish individual, project and company goals.
• 4 year degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent
work experience
DESIRED SKILLS
• Experience with phpBB, vBulletin or other forums software
• Experience with Zope, Plone, Alfresco or other document management
systems
