Software Build Administrator

We are seeking an entry level Build Administrator who loves technology and wants to join a motivated, highly-skilled and growing C++ development team. This person will be responsible for our daily software/installation builds. Our ideal candidate is a recent Computer Science graduate or someone with 1 - 3 years of software build experience in a Windows/Visual Studio environment.

Medical Simulation Corporation (MSC) develops high-tech simulation training programs used by doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. MSC has been providing quality training for more than 10 years and is currently the worldwide leader in endovascular and cardiac simulation training.



MSC provides quality training programs using high-end Windows PCs paired with custom hardware. These simulation-based training programs are developed in-house using C++ with an emphasis on solid OO design. Technologies used in the gaming industry are incorporated in order to provide realistic patient anatomies and physics.



About the Position



The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee daily software builds for multiple ongoing projects. Our software is built in a Windows environment using Visual Studio and automated by CruiseControl. The code is primarily C++ with some C# and other technologies.



The primary duties of this position include:

- Monitoring the automated build process

- Deploying daily installs during development

- Verifying the installed components



Additional responsibilities include fixing simple errors related to the build and install process as well as identifying the resources needed to fix problems outside of the build, install and machine configuration scope. At the end of a development cycle, you will be responsible for creating production release disks and distributing those disks to our field engineering department. Occasional production release support will be necessary.



Desired Experience

- Knowledge of C++ in a Windows / Visual Studio environment

- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience

- Experience troubleshooting and configuring Windows XP machines

- Must be a team player

- Excellent problem solving skills

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Motivated and eager to learn

- Able to prioritize

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail



Desirable (though not required) skills include

- Experience with CruiseControl, NAnt or Ghost

- Exposure to a corporate build process

- Exposure to an agile development process

- Exposure to C# and .NET
