energetic
team player to fill the position of Instructional Designer.



This position maintains liaison between the client and a team of
web-based developers, who produce online courses for eCollege's
Educational Partners (Clients). This candidate must possess a beginner
to intermediate understanding of instructional design principles as
they
apply to online course environments. This candidate must possess a
strong working knowledge of web-based development applications, such as
html, xml, JavaScript, and Flash. Proficiency in these languages and
applications a plus. This candidate will play a lead role for the
development team (including vendors) on concurrent projects ranging
from
one week to six months in duration.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following;





* Leads the design effort for retrofitting existing courses to
reflect eCollege's design practices
* Assess the current instructional state of existing courses -
oftentimes from learning management platforms other than eCollege's -
and creates a map of instructional equivalents from one platform to
another
* Documents the design decisions and outcomes for the client and
production team
* Oversees/assures that the needs of the client and course design
strategies are met. Performs Quality Assurance testing based on design
documents
* Informs Project Manager regularly of progress to assure projects
are delivered on time and on budget
* Acts as a key contact for outside vendors when necessary
* Designs/maps content to objectives & test items to form modular,
reusable learning objects, knowledge of learning content management
systems and SCORM a big plus
* Design and develop sound instructional courses through beginning
to intermediate knowledge of instruction, user interface, interaction,
graphic, and content design, including sensitivity to Section 508
compliance
* When appropriate or as needed, develops content by possessing
intermediate to advanced skills in areas such as adding text and/or
images, scripting languages (HTML, XML, JavaScript), multimedia
(Flash/ActionScript). eCollege uses Adobe and Macromedia applications
for the web)



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Candidate should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Instructional Design or Instructional Technology (We will consider a
degree in Technical Writing); Plus one to two years experience with
online course design.





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES




* Excellent problem solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to lead a team of approximately three to six people
* Ability and willingness to meet deadlines
* Excellent organization skills; ability to multitask;
detail-oriented
* Excellent presentation skills
* Beginner to intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft Project
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office (Outlook,
Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Ability to design and document processes and course templates,
including the look and feel of a course and its content interactions
that address teaching/learning
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of user interface design and
navigation structures (information architecture) as they relate to
online courses
* Intermediate knowledge and ability to work with eCollege AU
course delivery system
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of and skills in the creation
of HTML
* Beginner to intermediate knowledge of XML, JavaScript, Flash,
Swish, image editing, PDFs, and other applications related to design
and
development of online courses.
